> 3 dayReally dig the Crucial MX500 series. Fast, excellent 4K random read, great endurance. Storing data on SSD makes life so nice. Blender is much snappier now.

15-11-2024I don’t know how this SSD performs compared to other SSD’s on the market, but the difference in my systems performance after the installation was huge! Sometimes it took 5-10 minutes for Windows to boot up and start to a point where I could even use the computer. I’m rocking a ~10 year old AMD board that uses DDR2 RAM, so I was thinking that maybe my hardware was just so old, that was the issue. When I opened task manager and saw that my HDD was always pegged out at 100%, I decided to gamble and buy this SSD since I was pretty sure the hard drive was my systems constraint... Holy cow! Big improvement. The only gripe I had was that the set up was kind of ambiguous. Once you use the link provided in the instructions, you eventually download the cloning software. YOU WILL NEED A USB TO SATA CABLE TO CLONE YOUR EXISITING SYSTEM TO THE SSD!!! The cloning software was easy enough to use. If your screen goes black during the process, just stick with it and it should still complete after a while (2.5 hours for me).

> 3 dayCrucial offer disk cloning software from Acronis for free which is so useful. Its the 2015 version but just works. Nice little drive, and I have just cloned my old 256gb drive quite easily. I did have to adjust the partition using Windows native software and Acronis didnt seem to do any more than put the exact size on the new drive. Not a major problem and easily fixed, now I have a load more space as I was getting close to the point where they say SSD drives start to slow down. Good make, I trust Crucial and recommend this wholeheartedly.

> 3 dayI got this to replace the spacious, but insufferably slow 1TB HDD in an older Dell Inspiron (Haswell i5, 8GB RAM,W10). I was toying with the idea of replacing it, but since I maybe use the thing maybe once a month, and dont keep much data on it anyway, I decided to go to an SSD and max out the RAM (which wasnt totally necessary). All my SSDs up to this point have been Samsungs, and I have zero complaints about them. But I was doing this upgrade on the cheap, and the MX500 fit the bill in terms of speed, capacity and warranty length. The install was straight forward and the cloning software is easy enough to use, though not as seemless as Samsungs solution IMHO. Obviously the difference in boot speed, and general responsiveness is like night and day compared to the old 5400 RPM mechanical drive. I have no complaints. For less than $60 you really cant go wrong.
