> 3 dayFor about one years time, on and off, I have tried to find a cordless vacuum to be used primarily in my car. I knew that above all else it must use a lithium battery because my previous hand vac (and plenty of other devices) used Nickel Cadmium batteries. They are so consistently terrible that I refuse to ever buy something that uses Ni-Cd batteries again. My last hand vac being a Dirt Devil which was useable for about 5 minutes at best, and though I tried to maintain the battery properly it was still ruined within about a year. One of my favorite websites to shop is Woot.com and they frequently sell vacuums of all shapes and sizes from Dyson. I had bought (and I do really like) my DC-25 upright ball vacuum. So I was leaning heavily toward buying a cordless DC-34 vacuum which can be used as a hand-held or as a floor vac. The major downside: They are insanely expensive! The best price youll likely see is about $170 for a refurb. Two other things persuaded me to look elsewhere as well: The battery lasts about 10 minutes at best (but usually about 7 minutes of usefulness), and the thing is rather large and bulky for a hand vac. So, off to the web I went to try and find a vacuum with decent ratings and a lithium battery. I eventually stumbled upon the Black & Decker CHV1410L. Im glad I did. The vacuum features an attractive design, its compact, its got an absolutely tiny charging base (and still functional, happily), and other course...a lithium battery. One likely wont need the users guide to figure out how everything works. Disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, and using the vac are all quite intuitive. Still, the manual offers all the information youll need while being brief. You can read the entire guide in just a few minutes. Happily the vacuum is a bag-less canister design, and the filter is a mesh design which is easy to clean. Aside from the battery eventually wearing out, theres nothing else youll need to buy or replace in the lifetime of this vacuum. A major improvement over older hand vacuums to be sure. Not bags, no foam or paper filters! Right out the box I put the vacuum on its charging base and the battery was full within an hour. One thing to note is the extremely bright charging indicator. While it doesnt bother me I was still surprised how bright it is. You can practically use the thing as a night light ;-) The charging base itself is refreshingly small, simple, and functional. Its a disc perhaps 5 inches in diameter, virtually flat, and the vacuum simply rests on top of it. Its very easy to seat the vacuum on it and getting it to charge. The vacuum itself is very light weight and Im glad that they went with a tapered design for the business end of the nozzle. It makes vacuuming tight spaces much easier and gets the job done well. The nozzle features an interesting flip down brush which is convenient since you dont have to worry about losing the attachment but unfortunately only half of the assembly has bristles. It works well enough but Im thinking itd be better to have a full brush attachment. Suction for the vacuum is excellent and compares to a floor vac with hose attachment for effectiveness. It actually outperforms the aging plug-in canister vacuum I had been using to clean my car. Out with the old, in with the new I suppose! And this one is cordless! Noise level is less so than most floor vacs but this device isnt exactly quiet. Im not complaining about the noise level but you wouldnt want to vacuum in the middle of the night. Your family and neighbors wouldnt appreciate it! ;-) Battery life is very good for a cordless vacuum. Thus far Ive only needed it for about 5 minutes at a time but I did use it once for approximately 10 minutes straight and the suction was mostly consistent. I notice that the suction is strongest the first 2 minutes of use, it then drops off a bit but is still fairly consistent the rest of the way through. Consider the first couple of minutes Turbo Mode or something like that! In any case its a huge improvement over my previous Ni-Cd vac which was useable for only 5 minutes before beginning the steady decline to uselessness. A note: Disassembly and cleaning are a breeze, though you might have to fidget with the nozzle to get it to lock down tight with the base. Try rotating the nozzle assembly back and forth to get it locked down. If you dont the nozzle end might fall off during use. One thing to consider though is that youll be paying far more for this cordless vac than you would for a corded one. You can find a corded hand vac that performs just as well for $40 or less. Is the premium worth the convenience of a cordless vacuum? For me, yes it is. But if the price bothers you Id strongly recommend a plug-in vacuum over the future landfill youll otherwise buy if you go for a cheap cordless. Ni-Cd batteries are garbage! So, in closing. This is an excellent cordless vacuum with powerful suction, a good design, and at least 10 minutes of useful battery life. Id recommend purchasing it over ANY vac with Ni-Cd battery. Look for pricing to be $80 or less.

> 3 dayThis is probably the best dustbuster Ive ever owned especially for the price. You can see everything clearly but everything is locked in tight so nothings getting out you can be assured of that. It has great suction and it also has the Little brush attachment that is attached right to the dust buster you just have to flip it over to use it which is so convenient so you dont lose it. I highly recommend this. Ive had quite a few by far this is my number one

Greater than one weekWhen I first used the vacuum it made a very loud high pitched noise but after awhile it disappeared. Otherwise 5 stars.

> 3 dayI moved from a small condo in the city to a home in the country side and got a dog. This vacuum has been a life saver. Its compact, powerful, easy to empty, easy to use and recharge. If youve never live in a rural setting, you dont know how many bugs get into your house. I couldnt believe how many flies, stink bugs, wasps, lady bugs, all sorts of devilish creatures were getting in. Talking to my coworkers, they said yep thats normal. Enter the B+D handheld vacuum. Just turn it on and bring it close to the bug and WHOOSH into bug jail. My partner hates looking into suction chamber, she says its some kind of house of insect horrors. The other thing is how much my dog sheds. Very easily Ill sweep and collect all the hair into a pile and the vacuum will make quick work of it. Truly, this vacuum has allowed me to keep my sanity. Its also great to vacuum out all the crumblies in my car. Oh and I just learned on Tik Tok the suction tip extends! You wont go wrong buying this thing.

> 3 daySleek design, lightweight. Extendable nozzle with flip-down brush. Good for picking up dust and hair from hard floors. I use it in conjunction with a dust mop. Two filters; one plastic pre-filter that covers secondary filter which is for finer particles. The nozzle can be turned to different angles by pressing releases on the canister. The description mentioned wall mount but I don’t think that can happen as it sits on the base. It functions well but is noisy.

> 3 dayIts a great on the go and for your car too. It did have a limit to it tho. Change it often. To maintain battery life.

12-11-2024Bought this to replace an older 16V model, which itself replaced the same model from a previous purchase. We love these little gizmos. Incredibly handy and versatile. Its easy to carry around, well balanced. My only complaint would be that its a bit noisy, but I suspect that if it was quieter its performance wouldnt be nearly as good as it is. Our primary use is to tidy up around the kitty litter box. No matter what, their little paws always bring a little of the litter out onto the tile floor. This sucks it up with no difficulty at all. But we also use it all around the house for touch ups, for example in the kitchen around the edges of the floor and under the cabinets. Keeps things nice and tidy. Has plenty of battery life. We can do multiple jobs over multiple days (average time of use is perhaps about a minute total; moving from one area to another usually turn it off briefly until ready to clean). The charging unit makes it incredibly easy - just sit it down on the unit and a blue light shows its charging. The light goes off when done. This 20V unit definitely does have more suction than our prior B&D 16V (they look alike, this ones gray/black, that one was a light blue). VERY easy to empty and clean. The fabric filter unit (though they sell replacements if you dont want to bother, but its honestly so easy to do and, get this, Ive never had to buy a replacement filter - theyre incredibly durable - the units BATTERY (see below) has died before the filter fabric/material has worn out!) is easy to clean. Gently brush off the majority of the debris into a trash can, then a little dish soap and hot water cleans it up and we air dry it. Theres a plastic first stage filter that washes quickly, and the body (dirt container) cleans quickly w/soap and water. A few hours drying and back in business again. The nozzle fits in plenty of tight spaces. This is our 3rd unit (each one seems to last about 2 years, which I dont think is terrible at this price point), so were quite pleased with the product line for sure. Its the battery that seems to go on them. Though Im not honestly sure how much of this may be user defined than the battery itself. I try to let the battery drain down before charging, my wife always puts it right back onto the charger. Theoretically being a lithium ion battery it shouldnt have a memory, but I think that it should be used until nearly out then recharged. Regardless, with our pattern of use as noted weve had 3 of them (this being the 3rd, and its only about 2 months old now as I write this), the prior two (again, 16V, different model) having each lasted about 2 years. BTW, the plastic filter cup and the dust container are exactly the same, even on this new model; Ive simply saved those parts from the old machines in case I might need to replace, but have never had to! I paid full price for this item and Im an average end-user customer. This is my honest and unbiased by any remuneration review.
