High hz and low price with an above average picture quality compared to other monitors this price range made me pick this one up. No complaints here. 5/5

This is a great gaming monitor! It truly is 144hz, has great IPS paneling, and lots of different modes to choose from. I actually liked the shadow boost setting, especially for games like Metro Exodus. It also has probably the best mount I’ve ever seen on a monitor. It’s so sturdy and has many adjustment options. I had no dead or stuck pixels first try. If you’re not looking to spend too much but still want a great monitor, this is the one for you.

If you want a monitor that will give you true, natural color, look somewhere else. This monitor is a waste of money - if I didnt miss the return window I would have returned it, heres why: Im an avid gamer and used the VG248 as my primary monitor. I wanted an IPS monitor with the same specs to use as a dual monitor, so I bought the VG249 (this one). While the IPS has certain advantages over a TN panel, the coloration options for the VG249 make it unusable for anything other than specific gaming functions. The main problem is that there is no Standard Mode, like on almost EVERY OTHER MONITOR out there. I have to choose between 7 different modes that all make pictures look nothing like the original taken on a camera. Mostly, the pictures come out with a reddish/darkening hue which cannot be adequately fixed by changing Windows or monitor onboard color settings (in fact, for most of the monitor modes, you cant edit color settings at all). This monitor is completely useless for doing photo or video editing, and if you want to do normal tasks like look at a family photo album, everyones face will look like theyre about to have a heart-attack. On the VG248, standard mode makes pictures look normal/the way they were taken. Yes, images are sharper, but the discoloration is abominable. What a waste of $250.

poor picture quality with obvious sharpness issues. not worth the price imo. more like a $150 monitor.

After 1.5 years, the monitor is already breaking down. Have huge expectations, but if your products cant last more than 2 years especially with this price rage is a pretty big red flag. I have bought a lot of monitors and all of them are still alive to this day. Another big disappointment. What else is new. Just go next. Dont bother spending your hard earn cash here.

I actually own 3 of these...two that work, one that is broken that I sent back for warranty service. The monitor was mounted on my stand when I purchased it and had not been moved from there until I turned it on and the display was scrambled. I sent it to ASUS (RMA USDAN50820) and, in about 4 days got an email from them saying it had been received. A few days after that I received an email stating that they had discovered scratches on the bezel indicating user damage. The repair estimate totaled $300. I ordered another one (for $269) and asked that the original be returned to me. It is in transit and I will update this with photos when it arrives. They did send photos of the damage which are in a pdf format and I cant upload them here. The photos are extremely blurry and show nothing helpful. I am not a gamer, in fact I am a Nurse and do most of my charting from home. I work only on call and need a comfortable to look at monitor to use on my dual display. I often have to have multiple programs open at one time and use the dual display to make this more efficient. I will not purchase anything more from this company until they make good on their promise. Would I recommend these to anyone else? Not anyone I liked. This is not the end...just the end for now. I will have no problems steering anyone away from Asus.
