This is my second Acer Helios. This is an updated version I bought toward the end of 2018. It is an excellent gaming machine, and is very fast with an excellent display.

I am revising the review as I was able to fix the issue with the BLACK screen after every windows restart attempt. Now it is the fastest and nicest laptop I have owned. The predator sense makes it very easy to get all the power you need out of the GPU and CPU.

Very nice for gaming in my eyes for a first gaming laptop, previously I used a home made PC with a 1030 and older i7 (16gb ram). I have actually yet needed to overclock my graphics. I play games consisting of Ark Survival evolve, world of warships, and monster Hunter world on it regularly, as well as streaming and broadcasting music. Fits my needs nicely for a mobile person like me. Also NOTE, it does get hot when playing games after a while. Nothing to be concerned about, Cooling pads would help but I decided against using mine and instead just propped the back slightly and have a small fan blowing air across the back on the laptop.

I rarely take the time to review anything. However I got this computer a few days ago and I love it. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an awesome gaming experience at a very reasonable price. It’s a great looking computer and the performance is phenomenal. I am personally a Fortnite player and I basically never drop below 120 FPS. Have had it over 150 at times which is plenty to wreck havoc. Graphics are great. Can’t say enough about this product.

Pros: Overall one of the best mid range laptops out right now. The CPU / GPU doesnt break a sweat much and stays fairly cool. The GTX 1660 Ti is very competent at both professional applications and gaming at 1080p high/1440p medium setting. Using the GPU for Autodesk Mayas 3D modeling in plane render delivers very quick sample renders and Ive not stressed it yet. Also useful in the Adobe CC apps (video editing/rendering, photoshop/lightroom, etc.) that use hardware acceleration. Ive used it to power my Oculus Rift S VR headset and its been perfect for VR on the go. Quick hardware and great features. Build quality is excellent and while the aesthetics lean towards the gamer side a bit, this laptop is perfect for both professional, student and mid tier gaming use. Handily beats an Apple Macbook Pro that costs a lot more. Best bang for the buck laptop out.

works great and its really fast, the only problem is Waves MaxxAudio. It makes the audio sound horrible, and it uses the camera to try to adjust sound based on your position. Just disable it.

I recently opened the laptop up to do some upgrading (added RAM, 2.5 hybrid drive, and 1 TB NVMe M.2), and saw that the boot drive the laptop comes with is advertised as an NVMe M.2 drive, but it is a SATA M.2 drive. It is very misleading and dishonest to advertise an NVMe M.2 when it is a slower SATA M.2.
