10802 Gel Plate 8X10

One of my sisters introduced me to the Gel Plate. With no prior knowledge of it, nor techniques for its use, I was able to use the plate immediately as I experimented with color and eventually with stencils. Under supervision, this literally is a product for all ages. There is a learning curve, but one that can be extremely satisfying with use...the only real limitation will be the limits of ones own creativity. Have used the plate with stunning effects just using leaves from one of the trees outside. With the use of stencils, also available here on Amazon, you will get a more fixed, predictable final outcome, within the vast array of color combinations that Acrylics affords. If you want an idea of what to expect from the Gel Plate, look up videos on YouTube. Quite a few of the excellent video instructors have their own shops here within Amazon. If you have a budding artist in your family that you love, this would make a perfect gift and one that can help open the doors of creativity for so many, no matter how young, nor how old, (I am soon to be 70). Yes, I would highly recommend this to others to enjoy!

New user and had lots of fun experimenting with ink blending and techniques to provide texture on the design.

Other than the smell, which has lingered almost a year. This is fantastic for anybody wanting to play with monoprinting. I have a minor in printmaking. Too expensive, time consuming and equipment intensive. This is a great alternative for people who just want to have a little art making fun.

Really awesome way to make prints!

Takes a little practice but fun to play with. I used a lot of black acrylic and plate doesnt clean up completely so it looks gray after only two sessions.

First time mono printing and it was such a joy. Good quality. Met my expectations.

Im very happy with the thickness of the product. After I use it and take some photos of my work Ill post more.

This is so sad. Ive had 2 VERY BAD quality plates shipped to me. One was a replacement for the first one that was a defective product. Abnormal BUBBLES in the interior were not the worst part, but the PITTING left in the plates surface by the same kind of bubbles surely is. WINK (the seller here at Amazon) authorized a free replacement for me, which was good of them. I am currently unable to get out owing to health issues + family members are preoccupied and cannot help with return shipping of the seriously FLAWED gel plate. So this was really good of WINK to do. BUT. There are still problems, one to do with Amazons shipping dept. and the other to do with product quality standards. My gel plates clamshell wasnt protected by any packing materials whatsoever, and this led to it becoming damaged en route. This wouldnt be a big deal if that same clamshell pkg were not the place to store this kind of gel plate between uses. Within and on the surface of the second shipped plate are the same form of bubbles, only smaller. The surface looks a little like acne scars. The first plate was far worse, but all gel plates are supposed to be bubble free and totally free of blemishes on all surfaces. Their total smoothness is what makes prints taken from their surfaces actually turn out as they are supposed to. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO GEL PRESS, the company that manufactured both plates? Theyve had a solid reputation for years. here are some photos I took.
