Zoo Med Hermit Soil Coconut Fiber Brick 650g

After hydrating, this is a nice, soft soil that my hermits seem to like burrowing through. One block makes enough to fill about 2 gallons of space. This is an estimate, and probably an underestimate at that, but I used it, in conjunction with sand, to make three inch deep substrate in a 5.5 gallon tank, and still had enough to almost fill 2 one gallon zipped bags.

Works well. Hermie the crab loves to bury I to this. It is like shredded bark so it messy but the crab loves it. He is much more active than in just the crab sand. I mixed the 2 and Hermie is much happier.

Perfect and exactly what I expected.

I had to put it in a 5 gallon bucket to “make it” then use my hands to mix it up and take it out of the bucket. I only got one use out of it for a 1 gallon tank 2 inches across the bottom then had to throw the rest out. It wasn’t even in the tank for a week and the odor was awful and it started molding.

Works well but messy

Perfect for our hermit crabs. Much better than sand or some of the other things we have tried that are specifically for reptiles or hermit crabs but ended up being the wrong consistency for our crabs to crawl in. Make sure this is at least twice as deep as your largest crab, they need to be able to bury themselves when they molt. Sadly, we were not told this when we bought our hermit crabs at the mall and were told that an inch of sand was plenty -- so make sure you educate yourself. This comes in a small brick and then you just add water to it and it expands to be plenty for our 10 gallon tank.

It really expands and makes a lot. I think it is a good product to add to my Hermit Crab habitat. Kind of messy but I would buy it again.

Easy to use turns out to be a large amount perfect

Really like this. I cut off a quarter of it to use. It expands greatly. Keeps the crabs happy
