> 3 dayThis engraving plastic works as well in my laser as any other I have tried. It comes with a plastic protective film on top. You want to leave that film on when you cut and then carefully remove it afterwards as it will keep your material from getting all sooted up. Raster engraving will not leave a smooth surface. Ive tried the stuff from Trotec laser and I didnt get a smooth raster finish with that either. What does work is cutting, and its cousin - vector engraving (which is just cutting, but with less power and faster so it doesnt go through). The top coat on engraving plastic is REAL thin, so youll likely find that the fastest movement and the lowest power your laser will do will be enough to leave marks. THE MOST IMPORT THING IS SAFETY!! I run a Middle School makerspace. The most important part of onboard training (Which i do for each and every tool in the space, for each and every student that comes in) is how to work with a tool safely. Lasers work by cutting things with heat, so a risk with laser cutting is always FIRE. Ive had fires start when cutting cardboard, paper, foamcore, and rubber. You should ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher next to your laser cutter. You should always check before you start cutting that you know where said extinguisher is. You should NEVER leave the laser while its running. Watch it work! Also, you might keep a spray bottle full of water near the laser. Most laser fires can be extinguished with a few swirts of water and thats a lot easier to clean up than a fire extinguisher. You will need the following upgrades on your laser to use this material: 1) FUME EXHAUST: Folks, having an exhaust to take your fumes outside is super important no matter what you are cutting in the laser. Cutting WOOD in the laser results in ultrafine (<2.5pm) particles that are hazardous to your health. This stuff is ABS plastic, read up on burning ABS - it will release formaldehyde which is REAALLY bad for you! Dont skimp out, get a fume exhaust system in place. 2) Air assist: ABS is known to be a fire-prone material when laser cutting. Having an air assist is really important for blowing out most fires that will start when cutting this material. Again, dont cheap out, an air assist costs less than a new laser cutter or house.

> 3 dayIf you were looking for 1/8 actual acrylic this is not the product for you! This is a very thin flimsy piece of plastic. Not suitable for the glowforge. Cannot be used to create an acrylic menu or letters! Its a complete waste. Its equivalent to glitter cardstock in thickness!

> 3 dayI got this thinking I could cnc it with my laser. turns out its actually white acrylic with a thin layer of black. so only the thin black layer got cut, and the laser did not go all the way through. useless

> 3 dayThin material - but with a few practice runs at various settings on my CNC - I got perfect results with a 1/16 down cut bit. Easy to cut material to size on table saw.

> 3 dayWe used this product w/ a 45w co2 laser to create signs for our facility. Works great!

> 3 dayWe used our 50W laser engraver at the lowest setting, and the results were terrible. The colored film bubbled at the edges and flaked off, and the melt patterns of the ABS are also bad. There are no guidelines as to what power settings should be used, so maybe a 50W is just too much. Im requesting a refund, and I do not recommend these for laser-engraving.

> 3 dayProduct seemed good for making name plates, but end up subpar. When using my CNC machine to engrave nameplates, I had a bunch of issues with the top layer not cutting clean. I spent a lot of time going through with a scribe trying to get the black top layer to break free. This product is not a poured plastic topcoat, but more of a laminate on top. Pretty much a waste of my money for what I am trying to do. I was expecting clean cuts, but the top was like a layer of tape that did not want to cut clean.

> 3 dayThe substrate is supposed to be white but it is more of a dirty white/grey color so the engraving looks dirty. Not recommended.

> 3 dayThe product has a thin white layer over a thick blue layer, so the engraving involves removing the white layer and exposing the blue. I had a lot of trouble with getting the power settings to accomplish that.

> 3 dayI recently got a laser engraver and was acquiring some different blanks to use with it. I thought these would be good for making into smaller signs or even cutting into smaller shapes for things like badges or something. However, these do state Perfect For Rotary Engraving, but not 100% for laser. Unfortunately, that information seems to be buried in the listing, and I didnt pay attention to it. I was able to use it with my laser... sort of, but not well. I never got good results and if a black soot layer forms on it, its very difficult to get that off making the entire surface look dirty. More soot also seems to form on these than the ones meant for use with laser engraving. It also doesnt get as clean an edge on the designs you make in it. I still gave this 4 stars because its unfair to take them away when Im using it in a way they dont recommend. Despite the issues I had and the many hours playing around with settings to try and get it to work well, I was able to get a few decent signs out of these. The material is sturdy but not too heavy so it does work well for small signs and if you can get it cut nicely using a rotary engraver or somehow manage nice results with a laser then it makes nice signs and the contrast of white and blue looks good. If you have a rotary engraver these are probably great but if you have a laser engraver expect more disappointing results. They do sell blanks intended for use with laser engravers so Id recommend just finding the size/color in the blanks they do recommend for laser use.
