This WD Black SN850 m.2 SSD is the fastest SSD I have used in my system. The software from WD is streamlined and easy to use when cloning data from my old SSD to this one. The write speeds are as advertised and I had no issues at all with the drive. When doing stress test, I did notice this drive heats up which is not really a negative because stress test are not a reflection of real world usage. I just wanted to see if it ran hotter than my 970 Pro, which it did when I stressed tested the drive. Overall, this is the best SSD I have used to date and I highly recommend it.

USPS messed up and delivered late but I finally got it and installation was really easy. It reads 6136 MB on PS5 but I’m good with that. It took about 2 mins to install and 15 seconds to format. I highly recommend it this SSD for PS5 users.

I bought this for me ps5 after spending almost a week looking at all the options and debating weather this one or their slightly more expensive ps5 official one would be better I ended up going with this one and I do not regret it. There is no reason to get the ps5 official one unless it is on sale for cheaper than this one. This one works perfectly and you get faster speeds with this one as opposed to the ps5 official one. Once I got it in it took be less then 10 minutes to install and I was good to go. I definitely think that this one loads faster than the one that comes in the ps5 as well. The included heatsink was also a huge bonus. So whether this is for your ps5 or whatever other console or device this is for I highly recommend this one when it comes to ssd western digital is the king. I definitely recommend waiting if it is not on sale though from what I can tell they are on sale a lot so if it is not on sale wait I bought mine for $179.99. So they go on sale and they seem to stay on sale for quite a while.

I was debating between the SN850 and the Samsung Pro for my PS5 but after reading reviews, turns out some of the Samsung drives require a firmware update to get the faster download speeds and not having a desktop computer at home, updating the firmware would have been a PIA. Decided to go with the SN850 and its been great. The 2tb version was offered at great price and even though I dont have a ton of games at this point, Im sure it will eventually get filled up. The speeds are just as advertised and installation was a breeze. I paired the drive with a Sabrent NVME heatsink that was designed exclusively for the PS5 and everything is working just like it should. Definitely would recommend the combination of the two if youre thinking of extending your storage.
