> 3 dayIgnore all those it’s too difficult to operate reviews... it’s down right simple! I’m mildly dyslexic when it comes to number punching. People who have previously complained, more than likely have problems putting in batteries or swapping out light bulbs, or boiling an egg! This scanner is ridiculously simple to use. Just watch some YouTube videos to get you started, and learn the sub menus and functions keys and by the next day or two, I promise you will be whizzing around the scanner like an expert! Anything new is daunting at first, like a new car, couple of spins around the block, you will remember which lever is your indicators and which lever operates your screen wipers! The more you fiddle with it, the better you become accustomed! This is a must buy analogue scanner. Works absolutely perfectly with the free “scan125” software. The software controls the scanner via your laptop or PC, with the usb cable supplied with your purchase! Your can even power off the Bearcat BC125AT within “scan125” program, it’s that powerful! Search “Nick Bailey Uniden scan125. I cannot stress enough to get this free software, which is HIGHLY recommended for your Bearcat BC125AT. Get it! Get it! Get it! The BC125AT scanner locks on better than my whistler 1010. The Close Call feature is powerful and has found more frequencies than my WS1010 ever did! So to those good folk who sent back their BC125AT, it’s very unfortunate you never spent time viewing those YouTube videos explaining this fastest seller! Otherwise you would be enjoying it as much as I am right now! Don’t hesitate... get it now! For the price, it’s worth it! Otherwise go for the more expensive digital brands. More time will be required learning the many sub menus of those high end scanners! I am very chuffed and delighted with my purchase from Amazon USA.

Greater than one weekYouTube setup helped- but it was still difficult to set up, in our rural area we have quite a bit of static I purchased a “better antenna but really didn’t help”.

> 3 dayI’ve been using the Uniden Bearcat BC125AT 500 channel handheld scanner with Alpha-Tags for five months and I have to say, this is the best handheld scanner I used so far. The BC125AT is equipped with a stronger receiver than the BC75XLT 300 channel conventional scanner, which I also operate. The BC125AT enables me to listen to both airports in our area as well as all of Fire/EMS, Police frequencies, Rail, marine, NOAA Weather/All Hazards and miscellaneous frequencies in our area and also in the surrounding parishes as well. Now, if law enforcement in your are, uses the 800Mhz-900Mhz band, this scanner will not receive those frequencies, but, it will, however, receive low band VHF, UHF and high band VHF, which includes NFM and AM transmissions. If you enjoy listening to (ATC) air traffic control (airport and ARTCC) communications than the Uniden Bearcat BC125AT 500 channel scanner with Alpha-Tags is what you need! The BC125AT also allows one to monitor ham radio communications as well as Auto racing and GRS communications. Also, I’ve discovered that the BC125AT and the BC75XLT both Have greatly improved reception when the RH77CC Diamond Antenna is connected to the BNC jack instead of the supplied duckbill stock antenna. In conclusion, I highly recommend the Uniden Bearcat BC125AT for anyone who enjoys listening to airports or ARTCC communications, police or Fire/EMS as a hobby or an occupation.

> 3 dayThis is my first venture into scanning, so I didnt want to spend to much out of the chute. After reading many reviews here this seemed a safe bet. This is a durable unit with a clear readable screen and wait for it...........fairly darn easy to use. Well, my experience with it was fairly easy. Dont think for a minute if you have never used a scanner you are going to popped the batteries in and turn it on an be amazed, there is some leg work up front. Other reviews here warned me the manual would be useless, cant confirm this as I never bothered to open the manual. Went right to the Uniden website for the programming software and the usb driver. Here is where things got a little rough, the programming software was a breeze to install, when I plugged my scanner into the usb port I never got a driver prompt screen. Soooooo, some google searches and youtube searches and I managed to directly drop the driver ini file in the right spot. Still could not connect the programming software to the unit, another search and I found under the tools menu in the software a button for device manager and made the connection. A little convoluted, but not overly bad if you are a tad computer savvy. Found all my local frequencies on the radioreference site, started filling int he columns on the software and sent them to the scanner. Hit the scan button and I was off to the races. Volume is ample, locking out is quick and easy if needed. If you want to manually program this unit without the software, plenty of helpful people on youtube have posted some great tutorials. This has been a very positive first experience with a very nice unit, I would recommend to anyone interested in dabbling.

> 3 dayThe scanner it self is working great. After six hours of confusion getting it programmed. Why cant a large company like Uniden make a decent manual and website for understanding how to use this scanner? Getting the All Channels Locked message was the first challenge. After a few YouTube videos I learned this is normal, that it needs some frequencies entered. I was thinking of returning it as defective after following the instructions in the manual. Newsflash, Uniden: Please put an insert about the Channels Locked welcoming message. The Uniden support videos are just awful. Please get a presenter who understands how to communicate. The scanner is pretty useless without the program to set up channels. Doing it with just the 10-step procedures directly on the scanner is for masochists. I tried the driver install with a Windows 7 computer unsuccessfully. It reminded me of Windows 95. Then I did it on my Windows 10. It worked in spite of the Uniden instructions. Somehow Windows 10 was able to install the driver automatically. The spread sheet is easy. The driver is not. This scanner is not for the technologically timid. I have 35 years of computer experience, a Masters degree in educational computing, and experience doggedly working on computer problems, 50 years of radio experience. I am an aviator used to dealing with radios. Bottom line: Uniden get some better technical writers!

> 3 dayBought for 86$. The scanner works fine but the interface is way too complicated from a fresh start. After many youtube videos, I was able to set up my channels and tune my banks the way I want. Have JFK, LGA, NYPD, and some military channels on separate banks and can scan what I want. I get about 10-15 miles range from aircraft that are IN THE AIR, and rarely on the ground at airports that are in the same range. Can listen to NYPD from over 15 miles away so thats cool. I wish I could listen to airport transmissions that happened on the ground like the Tower and planes on the ground with the standard antenna. Probably need a larger antenna for that though. Also, I wish I could charge and listen at the same time, i don’t think it can do that.

> 3 dayI love this scanner, not sure why there are some reviews that arent very good... I like that its lightweight, inexpensive, has alpha tagging, enough memory for 500 channels, and also uses tone codes, thats a lot for $100. Runs on either rechargeable or regular AA batteries, just make sure to set the switch correctly under the batteries, that way you dont end up trying to charge non-rechargeable batteries. The computer software from Uniden is a much easier way to program channels, and you can make as many channel list programs that you want, also included as an optional download from their website. I find that to be the most attractive part of it, makes it a breeze and is a great value. My only complaint is that the volume output could be louder, but its not bad. I use it for plane spotting and plan to take it to the races, and until everything goes completely digital I can still listen to almost everything in my neighborhood. If you do store channels manually on the scanner, that is very tedious compared to using the software, but not awful once you figure it out. If you want to use this for a hobby scanner, you really cant find a better value out there and if your area is still mostly analog like mine is, then you can listen to all that for the time being also, added bonus. Having this is making me thing about upgrading to a digital base scanner for the house once all the police and other services go digital.

> 3 dayThe interface is very complicated, but its a good scanner, and works for my needs (monitoring Airband).
