I also upgraded my HD to a SSD and combined, theyve made my computer feel brand new. I probably could have just upgraded to the 8GB and seen a significant performance bump (originally I only had 4) but I went with 16GB so that I wouldnt have to upgrade for just a little bit longer.

This is recommended for whoever has kept hers/his old MacBook even if they say that 8 Gb was the limit. 16 Gb plus a SSD give a valid new life to this great machine!
