> 24 hourI have two T5 SSDs of different capacities. I have been always worried about my time machine backup on conventional HHD with moving parts. For the peace of my mind, I use one T5 SSD of 500 GB for backing up MacBook Pro. I use the other T5 of 1 TB as my portable storage. I formatted this storage-purpose SSD in the exFAT file system. Hence, I can use this SSD on three major OSs (Windows, Mac OS, and Ubuntu Linux). There are so many reasons to use this SSD for backing up and portable storage. Among them, three major reasons for me to buy this SSD: 1) Brand name, SAMSUNG, 2) near perfect shock-proof, and 3) less-likely file corruption. It conveniently comes with two cables: USB-c to USB-B and USB-c to USB-c. Its small form factor makes it excellent portable storage. And its transfer speed is FAST! If the price of this SSD of 2TB drops, I will buy one more to replace my photo backup HDD.

> 24 hourSmall, easy to tuck in your bag. Ans solid state means it isnt as prone to damage as other external hard drives. I travel a lot, have a lot of data and need all my files with me (cloud files are notoriously hard to access on the road) so this is perfect.

> 24 hourIt just arrived (quick shipping - within 2 days). I bought it to hold video content so I can play it on my TV. the download went easily, and it was fast... but I cant get the video to play on my TV. I am going to have to research why but so far, its little more than a storage hard drive.

> 24 hourIm using this as a bootable clone drive for a Mac. Because its a solid state drive, its better to use APFS formatting. which will result in faster boot times and read speeds. But the option to use this isnt obvious in Disk Utility. To format a new T5 to APFS, you need to click on view, select show all devices and then select the lowed level (the disk itself, not the volume) and select erase. Select GUID in the bottom pull down menu box, which will then add APFS to the format options pulldown menu above.

> 24 hourThe unit is very small and connects with a common USB cable. Set up was very simple with password encryption included. Transfer speed is blazingly fast. With no moving parts reliability is vastly improved over conventional spinning hard drives. This is the way of the future. The only downside is the cost per megabyte is much higher than spinning hard drives but this should come down.
