This thing is fast and it’s tiny. It’s Samsung, so I assume it’s going to last me a long time. Can’t ask for much more than that.

This SSD from Samsung is very small yet has massive storage capacity - i went with the 1TB option to use as an external for my X-Box One. It is powered by the USB cable from whatever device it is connected to so it adds minimal cable management.

I have two T5 SSDs of different capacities. I have been always worried about my time machine backup on conventional HHD with moving parts. For the peace of my mind, I use one T5 SSD of 500 GB for backing up MacBook Pro. I use the other T5 of 1 TB as my portable storage. I formatted this storage-purpose SSD in the exFAT file system. Hence, I can use this SSD on three major OSs (Windows, Mac OS, and Ubuntu Linux). There are so many reasons to use this SSD for backing up and portable storage. Among them, three major reasons for me to buy this SSD: 1) Brand name, SAMSUNG, 2) near perfect shock-proof, and 3) less-likely file corruption. It conveniently comes with two cables: USB-c to USB-B and USB-c to USB-c. Its small form factor makes it excellent portable storage. And its transfer speed is FAST! If the price of this SSD of 2TB drops, I will buy one more to replace my photo backup HDD.

Samsung, a trusted brand for critical data! I use this SSD to record 6K digital film directly from my cinema camera, it needs to be fast, consistent and reliable.

The read and write speed is amazing

I just moved a bunch of PS4 games on my PS5 over to the drive. I’m actually using the USB-C plug on the front of the PS5 (external drive comes with a ISB-C cable). Moving the games was fast. And now I can play the games directly from the external hard drive. They load faster than on the internal NVMe. I imagine that’s because the external HD uses the same protocols that the PS4 games were made for and haven’t been updated to take advantage of the SSD. You cannot play PS5 games on the external drives but you can store them and move them back to your system when you want to play. It’s faster than downloading a game. Took about 4 minutes for a 70GB game to transfer.

Slower transfer speed than expected, otherwise fine.
