I bought this to move a bunch of my files off of and old computer and transfer them to a new computer. It was interesting to see how slowly they transferred from the old machine to the drive and how quickly they were moved to the new machine with USB 3.2 connections. If you are looking for some solid portable storage this is a good choice at a reasonable price.

Purchased to store videos for streaming. Fast transfer speeds and my Plex streaming is faster with no buffering delays once started. Easy to format for a Mac and is a fine piece of technology.

Ive used 2 Samsung T5s and they were great. So why not go up to a T7. This thing had trouble being detected by my PC to even download any of the footage, it overheats constantly stopping me from filming things after 10 minutes, the videos arent detected when the SSD is detected, and when I finally get them uploaded they have red and black bars all over them despite I have the correct Blackmagic plugin. I never had these issues with the T5.

I soon thought of more uses for this SSD drive so I bought another one. You can carry a lot of data in this small package without worrying about the fragile nature of a typical spinning drive. And it’s very fast. Of course you need to connect it to the proper type of high speed connection to get the maximum speed it is capable of. Plus, it works very well to save files from my iPad Pro using the camera connect kit.

I believe all the reviews about overheating are premature. Yes, initially, during the first 1tb of information transferred it did get very warm but Ive been using it for my photos primary library as well as my Time Machine backup for everything else and its not constantly hot. Its normal and expected temperature now, room temperature when not heavily accessed and a warm whenever I need to do a large transfer but not unreasonably warm. I use Mac OS Big Sur. I reformatted it to Apples primary APFS format before using and its just doing great for me. I use both the 1tb and 2tb versions simultaneously. no problem.

This is an excellent product! I cannot say enough good things about it. It was plug-n-play for me. It is small, it runs cool to the touch and this thing is FAST!!! I bought it primarily because my company laptop has a small SSD and I needed something to handle large documents & drawings. I had an external disk drive but it was too slow. This device has met all my needs. I am using it on a Dell Precision 7750 and I am using the thunderbolt connection. Thunderbolt cable came with the SSD.
