> 3 dayThe Samsung 980 is a perfect culmination of storage technology, I find it to suit my needs as an open world gamer. Im running it on Gen 3 Asus ROG Maximus X Code. And benchmarks with over half used capacity show 3395mb/2728mb sequential and 326171/27381 IOPS on Random which is doing a perfect job for games with world streaming like Star Citizen. Game loads are in seconds not minutes and that makes for a happy gamer. The 980 also boasts solid longevity having good thermals for me its at steady 40c and a write life of 600 TBW backed by a 5 year limited. warranty. Now Im just waiting on a 2tb version to sweeten the specs.

> 3 dayThis was perfect for my computer that’s a few years old. If you’re building a new machine, this is PCI-E 3, and you may want PCI-E 4. But if you don’t need PCI-E 4, this is a great value.

> 3 dayPut this in a Gigabyte server motherboard. Instantly recognized, working without issue. Better than 400MB/sec transfer rate.

> 3 dayI was hoping to clone the 2242 form factor SSD on my Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 with this faster drive for an even speedier Windows 11 experience, but after installing into the only available 2280 slot (pcie 4.0) available and running CrystalDiskMark I was a bit disappointed that I was only getting half of the advertised speed with it showing 1800MB/s sequential reads and 1500 MB/s sequential writes. This means the 980 1TB performed almost exactly the same spec as the 512 GB lower quality Samsung SSD that came with the laptop, even on the random r/w tests. Instead of making this my primary OS boot drive Im instead using it as a D: drive to store my games on.

10-11-2024Plug and play on a Windows 10 Pro system in two older PCs. Worked flawlessly with a SABRENT NVMe M.2 SSD to PCIe X16/X8/X4 Card with Aluminum Heat Sink (EC-PCIE) since one of the PCs didnt have an M.2 port. Highly recommended!

Greater than one weekPretty well made drive simple and easy to install just an fyi the scew is not included eith the drive so if its not on your motherboard you will need to make arrangements for that separately. This ssd gives you a good amount of speed and the overall performance is amazing this is a genuine drive to so I guess is just really expensive for the capacity on the drive other companies sell for double that capacity at the same price other than that all good.

> 3 dayThis drive is very fast but only for pcie Gen3 drives, this drive, at this price, could have used gen4 bus, especially given the fact that most other vendors have already switches to gen4 pcie. The good thing is that this drive (just like the higher-priced, pcie4 pro version) are both built on TLC technology, while most other memory manufacturers have long switched to QLC, which doesnt last nearly as long but costs much less to manufacture.
