Ive used this for two different laptops now, the original Retina MacBook Pro (circa 2012) and the newer, thinner 2016 thunderbolt-3 MacBook Pro. Both fit perfectly. The mStand has some nice features, like the downward tilt, which elevates the laptop but keeps it from sliding backwards (and potentially off a desk), and grips so that metal never scrapes on metal. It also has grips on the bottom that keep the stand securely in place. The passthrough port on the back mimics that of older iMacs or Apple displays, with plastic encircling the opening so that cables dont rub against the metal. Plus it matches the MacBook Pro colors of silver or space gray, and looks darn good on a desk.

The Rain Design mStrand is great for my rMBP, id been searching for a way to make my computer more comfortable to use during long homework and and editing sessions and this fits the bill ( coupled with a nice big wired apple key board and magic mouse) it turned my cramped laptop into a rudimentary work station. Couple things though. The front tangs that old the computer are a bit sharp on mine and mine flexes a tad when you push down on it. But it doesnt impede usability.

I just ordered a second since im taking this one into the office - its a perfect match to the retina mbp, and puts the laptop at the exact right angle for my stand up workspace. Highest of recommendations!

This stand requires a separate keyboard, as the laptop is elevated so much. When I immediately tried to return it I found that it is a non-returnable item. I dont understand why, and I am out $40.

This stand is incredible. I have been using Macbook Pro/Air as my only computing device for over 4 years and I havent given much thought about computing posture. It was only recently that I thought it was time to fix my computing posture and this does the job. It looks sleek, professional, and the aluminium feels nice to the touch. The packaging was probably a bit OTT for a piece of aluminium and it probably isnt worth the price tag, however, for someone who has been used to having nothing, this makes using your laptop feel amazing.

Great laptop stand. It will not raise my laptop enough to be an ergonomic height so I used books to give it a boost of 5-7 inches. Small, discreet rubber pads to hold the laptop in place and prevents any scratching. Looks great with Apple products and accessories. Fits in the same look. It is great but I wish it was taller or adjustable in height. It is a great heat sink over other materials.

Its a nice stand, but you might need another book or something to put under it to get it up a little higher.
