Noctua NH-U12A, Premium CPU Cooler with High-Performance Quiet NF-A12x25 PWM Fans (120mm, Brown)

Really great for air cooling your computers CPU. Im using mine on a Ryzen 9 3900x and it does well and even maintains around 4.125GHz clockspeeds during Prime95 stress testing. The clockspeeds will eventually lower but the test is very synthetic and hard to run so I am impressed at the competitive cooling from this device. For anyone new to building like me, this requires a lot more force to hold down while youre screwing it on than you would expect so just take it slow but it wont be coming off and helps create better contact on the CPU to help transfer the heat.

This thing keeps my I7 11700K at 70C under full load cinebench stress testing. I doubt theres another air cooler on the market that can do that. At this price point though, youre basically paying 100% more than say a Mugen Scythe for 10% better performance. That being said, if you want the best - this is it.

I bought this 2 years ago because I wanted something reliable and I wanted to see and access my RAM and NH-D15 is just too damn big. I had this on Ryzen 7 3700X and now using it on Ryzen 9 5950x. The temps are really low and I cant believe how quiet this is even when its cooling 5950x when its running at full speed, and its keeping it well under 80 for most of the time. This is seriously the quietest CPU cooler I have seen myself and it performs like a champ.

I used this cpu fan for my first build. It’s been a couple months now since completion, and the temps have been fine for me. The radiator with both fans attached is a little big and nearly rests on my ram stick, but it has fit snug in my case. The case I have is the NZXT H510, the case itself is fine and has great slots and room for access to a lot of the ports. In the Bios I played around with the fan intensity, and at full speed the cpu fan is pretty quiet. Overall it’s a great cpu cooler, installation was easy as Noctua has a ton of great videos on YouTube regarding installation. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great cpu fan, just be wary that it is a thicc boi.

Although this CPU cooler isnt as pretty as some AIO or other water coolers, its cooling performance and silent operation surpasses just about all of them. Just search for videos online comparing CPU coolers and youll find good information before you commit to a CPU cooler. For me personally, the aesthetics of a CPU cooler wasnt a big factor. More important to me are the cooling performance and loudness factors. The Noctua NH-U12A is the best of the top CPU coolers for these two factors. Before I watched the videos, I always thought water based CPU coolers were the most quiet and was very surprised to learn that Noctua NH-U12A outperformed some of them in quietness. The only thing that bothered me a bit about the Noctua NH-U12A was that the clips that holds the fans to the heat sinks are not very effective. They dont hold the fans very tightly. I had to use some twist ties to tie the two fans clips together to make sure the clips didnt pop off accidentally. Despite this small annoyance, I still highly recommend the Noctua NH-U12A CPU cooler for those who want great cooling performance along with low noise.

Just wanted to begin by saying that I started off on the wrong foot by purchasing a non-liquid cooled Alienware R12. The heating and noise issues those cases have are horrible since the power supply sits right over the cpu and stock cooler. So side note, if youre buying an Alienware because you just think theyre so cool, get an AIO for the CPU. That being said I swapped cases and put the Noctua NH-U12A on it and had about a 40 degree temp drop/improvement on the processor with very little fan noise. Much happier with my temps with a new case and this CPU cooler.
