First of all it leaked all over the shipping package, so most of it is gone. Second if you actually read the ingredients, it is basically coconut and avocado oil. What little i did use of this greasy mess did make my tortoises shell look better.

Your tortoise will never be shinier or look more beautiful. I will buy more when this bottle is finished.

This is basically a collection of different “wonder” oils that make the turtle’s shell shine and look more vibrant and healthy looking. It smells wonderful too! This combination of oils is a slightly thick liquid that will run off the shell if you are not quick about starting to rub the oil on the shell or if you put too much. My girl is about 20 years old and I use about 7-10 drops around her prewashed and dried shell and I rub the oil on her shell. She doesn’t seem to appreciate it, LOL, but she does look good. My little boy is about two years old and I only use about 3 – 4 drops on his shell. The leftover oils on my fingers (if there is any) I rub the oil under the top shell or if I drip too much oil on them, I rub the oil right under the shell. I knocked off one star only because it doesn’t tell you how many times to use it so I just rub their shell with the oil when I clean their habitats.

Okay, I liked the more natural ingredients such as avocado in this turtle shell conditioner, but this stuff was dripping out all over the package when I got it in the mail, even though the senders wrapped it carefully and scotch-taped the nozzle of the bottle top. My 30 year old Malaysian box turtle Pooter was used to the old cream being massaged into his shell, and was a little taken aback at having this watery liquid smeared on him, but I bet he was as grateful as I was that heavy peppermint-eucalyptus smell of the pink Tetra cream wasnt there anymore, and also the Tetra took forever to dry -- Poots an amboina cuora turtle and partially aquatic, so he plops right back into his water pool and that sort of wasted the cream I used to put on him, and goop up the water. This stuff is much better because it absorbs right away, but I will have to wait and see if it moisturizes his shell as effectively. I was leaning toward Fair but will rate it Good as it is easy and quick to use, but lets hope it is as good a conditioner. Addendum: a few days have gone by; Ive given Mr. Poot another application and dont see any obvious improvement -- for all the strong aroma and creamy gooeyness, the Vita-Shell WAS a better product in the long run, but were all stuck buying this new runny stuff because obviously theres no Vita-Shell available to purchase anywhere, anymore. Ill have to continue to use this product because there is nothing else, dont want to dump anything dangerous on my turtle like scented baby oil meant for people. Maybe in a few more applications Pooters shell will be a little glossier -- the carapace still has a bit of a worn look although he is in otherwise fine health and looked especially plush after his Vita-Shell treatments. Plastron looks good, though, with this item.

I dont know how this works for others pets, but for my box turtle it seems to have done the opposite of its intended results. My box turtles shell has become basically waterproof. I applied it once a few weeks ago and water droplets still roll off whenever she bathes. The old product I had used (that is not made anymore) acted like a conditioner making her shell dark and shiny. This product however seems to have made her shell more dry and unable to soak up water externally when bathing. I do not recommend this for box turtles at all. If I had known what it would have done I would Never have put it on her. We scrub her shell gently daily to removed completely asap. I think shell be fine once its removed, lucky for this company.
