If you already own the 8700k your waste your money on upgrade to the 9th generation This 8700k run very fast and with a good cooling water solution you can OC this beat to 5.1 Ghz at 1.35v with good stable temperature as I did , I get in idle 34 degrees celsius and full load all cores around 77-79 degrees celsius. This CPU for gaming and programs than use no more than 2 to 4 cores is the king of mainstream . The only downside is the price , it will be a very heavy weight to compete with Ryzen 2700x on the price range
