Bought an open box product and someone had delided the processor and glued the lid onto a different one and returned it. I so happened to buy his/her return...

Great CPU, just make sure you have a top level cooler as it does run hot.

Una vera e propria potenza, lo consiglio a tutti, sopratutto a chi non interessa minimamente loverclock.

I like that I wasnt racked over the coals for the price. I can run anything I was with everything maxed out in settings. Overall its a rock solid CPU. I hope it stays that way.

5.1 GHz @ 1.36Vcore, will do 5.2 stable, but I keep it at 5.1 for the lower voltage and longevity.

CPU 8700k came faster than estimate and was security sealed from factory still. Some sites and sellers will test CPUs for the best overclockers to sell at a higher price, didnt happen here.Mine does overclock to 5ghz @ 1.31V but i only did it to test the CPU.You have to be very careful of BIOS settings AUTO does not mean STOCK neither does optimized settings.Motherboards for this CPU tend to put the voltage way too high right out of the box so do a little research and set everything manually.I have mine set for 4.5ghz on all cores turbo OFF @1.15v with LLC set to level 1 and C states on, my motherboard is Asrock Fatality K6 z370.Very happy with it getting a decent overclock using voltage lower than VID.Overclocking has been a time consuming pain compared to older chips but thats only because motherboard manufacturers seem to over compensate for bad overclocking chips. If you really push your OC to 5ghz and above you will hit a thermal wall but unless your benchmarking or measuring your epeen you really dont need to push it that far.

I built my new system with the i7-8700K as the heart. My old PC was running on Win 7 32-bit and a CPU that was 10 years old. It was time for an upgrade. I have it overclocked at 4.9 GHz and the temp stays under 35C. The MB is a GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 with 16 GB RAM and a Cooler Master Hyper RR-212E-20PK-R2 LED CPU cooler. OS is Win 10 Home 64-bit.
