Greater than one weekThis is our first time using a home theater projector and we love it. We’re able to project a massive 130+” picture and still retain great brightness in a room which is not purpose built for projectors...one of our bedrooms. The picture attached is an initial test, not even at HDR brightness. Picture is solid, bright and HUGE. Setup was literally plug and play with some minor focusing + and adjustments of the lens + feet. Doesn’t have any “smart tv” capabilities but that’s fine, we’re using an Apple TV 4K and it works great. Comes with decent speakers which was surprising, definitely not room filling action movie sound but good enough for some basic video watching. My only “con” to this projector is lack of Dolby Vision. A lot of Apple TV content (Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video) is at Dolby Vision quality while this projector is at HDR 10, not a deal breaker but would have preferred Dolby Vision capability are this price point. Still, the picture is GREAT...not LED/OLED bright but the size this thing projects at, the picture quality and the cinematic brightness (you really don’t need eye piercing brightness when watching in dark) really come together in a solid projector package. You’ll be very happy with this purchase.

> 3 dayI need to begin by noting that for the last couple of years I have been spoiled by mostly watching on a 55” OLED I purchased for my bedroom and I have to note that it is unfair in my mind to base a projector against an OLED screen. Although to black levels on the projector are as good or better than any I have used it could not possibly compare to the OLED screen I had become so accustomed to. Otherwise I am impressed by this units performance given its price level. I also cannot compare it to the new laser projectors which are far above the price of this projector. I own a large number of projectors or er the last 15 years and although some of the HD/3D units are very close to the picture quality of this one they all fall a bit short. What they do not have is bluetooth, which I was happy to see is included in this one. After spending several days watching about thirty movies and barring myself from watching my OLED screen I can say this far exceeds my expectations. I have enjoyed it so much that I began to use my home theater more and have begun to upgrade my sound system. If you are considering a first time projector at this price point then I do recommend this projector. If you are looking to upgrade to 4K but are not able to shell out at least two or three times as much money for a laser projector then I also recommend this unit. Update: After using for a few months it started making a loud buzzing noise whenever an image is projected. When it goes to no image it stops so its not the fan. Very annoying. Update 2: After using this wonderful 4K projector for over a year I have experienced just one problem, that until just recently I had no idea what was causing it. The problem was a very loud and annoying sound from the unit, especially when projecting bright scenes. The sound is difficult to describe in words and the best I can do is that of n electronic buzzing. If you are experiencing the same thing you will know what I mean. The other day I just got so fed up with it I decided to try again to see if I can do anything to stop it short of opening the unit up and playing around with something I am no way qualified to do. I decided to just change settings to see if anything made a difference. After about half an hour of switching settings off and on I finally hit pay-dirt. I have always preferred the “Dynamic Mode” setting for color mode. I changed it to Cinema Mode and played a movie that I had just experienced the annoying sound and to my surprise it was gone. It turns out that the sound is evident only when in the Dynamic color mode. Although I prefer that color mode the trade off in eliminating the noise is worth it. I hope no one else has experienced this problem but if so I suggest this as a fix.

Greater than one weekI got this Epson Home Cinema Projector to place in another room that Im working on turning into a mini home theater in my house. I own another Epson projector and Ive been very pleased with their quality, so I expected just the same out of this one. The most amazing part about this projector is the absolutely excellent video quality. It transmits using 4K PRO-UHD technology, which I really dont understand a lot about. But it basically helps to improve the resolution, color, and image processing. Its got a 3-chip that puts out just beautiful and vibrant color while using pixel-shifting. The brightness is also exceptional and seems to be just perfect for any viewing experience. Its got a multitude of connections including: 2 HDMI ports, USB, and a 3.5 mm audio out. I wish it came with an optical audio output, but I guess thats starting to be replaced by HDMI anyway. The projection can output all the way up to a 150 display, but I dont think I even have space for that in the room Im using. Im currently using a 120 projection with the projector set back about 12 feet, which is just perfect for what I need. I mounted mine to the ceiling using one of the mounting kits that you can buy, so thats something youll want to consider most likely. You can also set it up on a tabletop, but Id imagine thats probably not the best scenario for most people. You might also consider buying a projector screen for placing on the wall to get the absolute best display. So prospective buyers should consider factoring those additional costs into their budget on top of the price of the projector. Finally, Ive been able to connect all of my peripheral devices without any issues including: Amazon Fire Stick, laptop, PS4, blu-ray dvd player, and DirecTV receiver. Overall Im extremely satisfied and impressed with the quality and performance of this Epson Home Cinema Projector. The amazing video quality and incorporated technology make this an amazing projector that can be had at a reasonable price when you consider that a lot of 4K projectors run around $5,000 or more.

> 3 dayBack in the 1990s and 2000s I had several Epson projectors and generally they were refurbished units. They all performed very well and I could see no difference in quality from a new unit. This year I have tried two Epson products, the LS300 ultra short throw and this unit the Home Cinema 3800 and both were refurbished and both had issues and were defective. The 3800 has bad and crackling speakers and when they did so, it would cause the image to flicker. Also the video playback would randomly shut off by itself and the unit would power down. Also the remote would not power down the unit. In order to turn it off, you had to turn it off at the unit. Also the 4k image quality has not as expected. The black levels were not good. There were no blacks just light greys. Black levels were far better on SD but still not great. 4k playback looked very good in bright scenes and dismal in dark scenes. This was actually the same with the LS300 which had an alleged contrast ratio or 1000,000:1 but it looked more like 5000:1. Maybe this was due to the units being refurbished but possible Epson is simply not what it used to be.

> 3 dayI was hesitant to purchase based on some reviews complaining of inconsistent sharpness across the image. Here I am to tell you this is absolutely true. When I perfect focus the center to see the pixels, the edges are blurred. I can focus the edges, but then lose the center. Cannot focus entire screen. I have laser leveled the projector dead center to the screen and am within its range (17.5ft for 120”). I just got a replacement unit, exact same problem. Specifically bad in bottom right corner. Oh and lo and behold other reviewers complaining of the same bottom right corner. These things are a pot shoot. Maybe you’ll get a good one, I got two bad ones. I’m done. NOT a quality device, just has expensive components. Doesn’t matter what the windows look like if the foundation is trash. That’s this. Don’t fall for it. Plastic junk.
