> 3 dayThese taps were marked HSS and 12-24. There were no other markings for either manufacturer or country of origin on either the taps or the packaging. Are they counterfeit? Who knows? The good news is that they do have the correct pitch and diameter and at least cut in soft metals. These are quite inexpensive taps, so this is probably a reasonable deal for incidental use. They worked fine for the thread cleanup that I have done, but I would probably not use them in production.

> 3 dayI have bought products from this company before and have been satisfied with their products. With this product the diameter of the shanks was pictured as the minor thread diameter. The set arrived and the diameter of the shanks was the major diameter of the threads. This means that you cannot tap a deeper hole than the cutting length of the tap. This was contrary to Top Dogs question that was answered in 2020: Q: are the 1/4-20 taps like the web page picture, or like the customeer picture. In other words is the shank smaller than the minor diameter? A: As pictured By Top dog on December 7, 2020

> 3 dayI used this set to tap threads into a 1 deep hole that bottomed out in a piece of stainless steel. Used all three taps starting with the taper and ending with the bottom tap. All three cut through the hard stainless steel with relative ease and achieved smooth threads all the way to the very end of the hole. So far have done just the one hole and taps look pristine and ready for more. The plastic case they come in is also handy for storage.

Greater than one weekThese are not high speed taps, so if you put them in your cordless drill to tap a number of holes, there is a good chance youre going to break at least one. I guess thats why they come in 3s.
