I needed a bottom and plug tap for 8-32 metal/jewelry working and it took awhile to get all 3 types in one item and purchase price separately was not as good as this offering. They look perfectly all right, so it was felicitous.

First order had only two of the three taps, no bottoming tap. The replacement had only one tap. Ni shrink wrap or other packaging other than the plastic box for either set. So, the replacement is also going back. Dont waste your time ordering this.

I’m new to the hobby and broke a tap I purchased from another seller fairly quick so I thought I’d experiment with the set. I’m using a 1/16th to bore out the post and getting beautiful threads. I refer to the set as a cutter, a rough and a finish. I’m using the cutter and rough as often as I can, but some of the posts are so shallow I use the finish because the others won’t bite. I’ve got a dozen cars done already and see these taps working for easily double, triple, who knows how many more.

The picture show when purchased them 3 different type of tapes. When I received them they all dead front or bottom type tapes. All are 5/8X11.

I had purchased these taps to clean out Frame Rail Weld Nuts in a 16 year old car. A lot of rust and road grime. The purpose was the installation of a new trailer hitch. When they first arrived I was impressed with the nice divided case that they came in. Very convenient especially considering the low cost of the set. That is where the good for this project ends. The first two snapped within minutes of use in the first nut. This was very surprising as I was using a T-Handle Tap Wrench and you cant get much torque with one. Im guessing these either had a bad temper or were from a bad batch of steel because the third lasted for the rest of the project (6 additional Weld Nuts). Next time Ill spend the extra money and get something a little higher quality.

Had no problem tapping a through hole in stainless steel. Use lots of oil (even cooking oil is OK).
