These rods were shiny brass with no defects. The diameter of each of the two rods was exactly 5/16 as measured using a drill gauge. The length of each was 12 - 1/16. These will work perfectly for replacing the hinge pins on my storm door. 5/16 pin for 1 then step down to 3/16 for 1/2.

I used these for knife handle pins on a few projects. Price is good and quality of brass is good as well. Overall very happy. Will order again.

Opening my package, I found 8 rods, made of a yellowish metal, most likely brass, however the metallurgy results arent back from the lab yet. They were 1/8 (+/- 1/100000000 or so)

Its 360 brass at the right dimensions.

Free cutting brass has a machinability of 100% commonly called 360 brass. This is 274 brass, which is 35% machinability. While more machinable than 260 brass at 30%, it still falls well short of the 100% needed to be called free cutting brass.

Used these as rivets and they do the job great!
