Greater than one weekUpdate: 06/23/2023 I’m not that much of a fan of the Cinnamint. I think I was lead on to think it would taste like cinnamon. It tastes like cloves. Nothing is wrong with cloves, but it was not what I expected going by the flavor’s name. I use these toothpastes exclusively. Update: 05/15/2023. Ive been using mainly Boka toothpaste since Oct of last year. I went through a stage of lowering my sugar intake and everything started tasting too sweet. You know how when you eat a perfectly ripe apple and it will taste sweet. Then you eat an apple pie and its even sweeter. If you go back and take another bite of the apple, it wont taste as sweet anymore. Well, I got rid of all the sweets and the Coco Ginger and Lemon Lavender became way too sweet for me. For a short stint, I went back to Sensodyne because I had it at home already. Then I eventually switched back to the Boka and tried the Ela Mint. Before making the switch back to Boka, I tried the Elims toothpaste. It wasnt sweet. Unfortunately, it taste like mild soap and doesnt clean very well. Ela Mint will be a great introduction to anyone just starting hydroxyapatite toothpaste. It tastes pretty much like a regular mint flavor, and I think it cleans the best out of the 3 flavors Ive tried. My teeth just feel smoother. It was also nice to not have an overly sweet toothpaste. The Ela Mint toothpaste tube that shipped came in perfect unlike the other two flavor. It was not covered in scuff marks nor looked like it was trampled over by an elephant. Im not sure why this flavor is treated so different. Also, I havent had a cavity in years since I found out the wonders of floss. Im going to exclude the small one that started when I went through chemo at the start of the pandemic. So roughly the 6 months (Im minusing the Sensodyne time)of using this toothpaste, I havent had any cavities nor gingivitis at my cleanings. I cant say that my teeth look whiter though. I am a coffee drinker. I use to smoke spliffs and drink coffee and I felt my teeth look whiter back then. In fact, people would comment on how white my teeth looked. However, I use to oil pull and just brush with a slurry of baking soda. Ill update again, once I quit coffee to see if this type of toothpaste makes a difference. Older Review Ok, we all know what Boka toothpaste is suppose to do. It’s suppose to help remineralize the teeth with nano-hydroxyapatite, and then there are a whole heap of benefits that come with that. Since no one is going to be able to see the benefits right away, let’s talk about things I can evaluate in the here and now. First, let’s talk about the taste. It actually tastes like sweet coconut oil and ginger. It has a health food and green living vibe to its flavor. It’s not bad, but I was surprised it seemed kind of herbally. The flavor is mild and enjoyable. My mouth tasted nice after spitting it out. I don’t think it messes with the flavor of food right afterwards. Second, the paste turns to liquid in the mouth. There is no foam. I needed more than a pea size to feel like I adequately covered all of my teeth with it. Since I switched my toothbrush and floss, my teeth typically feel really clean after brushing. My teeth continued to feel clean after using this one. It’s cleaning capabilities are still the same as others. For those worried about the abrasive used in this toothpaste, ask for the RDA ranking of this paste. Even Sensodyne Pronamel uses hydrated silica and it’s rda rating is below 40 for all but the whitening ones. Lastly, this felt good in the mouth. There was no burning. My tongue also didn’t feel numb afterwards. Overall, it’s a decent toothpaste at face value. It is very crunchy-granola in its brand values, as well as its flavor. What it purports to do makes it seem great, but it’s too early to see those benefits. I’d just have to take their word for it. Edit: I recently purchased the Lemon Lavender flavor off of Target because they are out of stock on the Boka website. If you thought the tubes off of Amazon looked streaked up and dirty, the Target ones have them beat. Oh my, my tube looks beat up. This is a sweet and soft flavor that dissipates to the flavor of nothing. It reminds me of lemon short bread cookies with a hint of lavender, but very soft. Its definitely not as sweet and intense like Tanners Tasty Paste in Vanilla Bling, but it still tastes good. I can see children liking the Lemon Lavender flavor much more than the Coco Ginger.

Greater than one weekI have this on subscription. I love it so much. I love the nano- hydroxyapatite for remineralization of my teeth. It has a refreshing taste. I leave it on my teeth without rinsing for maximum results. A tube lasts me about 2 moths brushing 2 mins each twice a day. Since stopping fluoride, my teeth as still just a white and healthy.

> 3 dayOk, I’ll admit it. I’m 30 years old and I have always hated brushing my teeth. That is almost 11,000 days of my life I have struggled with brushing my teeth. Like, I still did, but not everyday and I hated it. I know I need to. I want to! I want pretty, healthy teeth. I thought long and hard about what I didn’t like- I didn’t like the foamy mess that often made me gag, I didn’t like how mint affected the taste of food, I didn’t like the “tingly clean” sensation that lasted for hours, especially when I went to bed. I bought nearly every non-mint flavor of toothpaste on Amazon and tried them. Boka changed my life. I have brushed my teeth twice a day (or more!), every day since I tried this stuff. My teeth are whiter and cleaner. Now that my morning routine is complete, instead of a nagging “you still need to brush your teeth,” my days start strong. I’ve decluttered my entire house. I’m on top of my professional work. My laundry is all washed and folded. Wtf. This stuff is magic. I think the ginger flavor is slightly better than the lemon flavor, but they’re both dope.

> 3 dayFor decades Ive suffered from skin peeling on the inside of my mouth after brushing my teeth. I thought it was a normal part of brushing your teeth since Ive experienced it for so long. I just assumed that it happened to everyone and was a sign that the active ingredients in the toothpaste were doing their job and cleaning your mouth. It was only after a dental hygienist took a huge piece of gooey and disgusting dead skin out of my mouth and showed it to me that I realized that this wasnt normal. She asked me what toothpaste I used, and I told her Crest 3D White. She told me to try using toothpastes free of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) since thats a common irritant. I tried Arm & Hammer Essentials toothpaste since its SLS free, and while it helped a bit, I was still experiencing quite a bit of skin peeling in my mouth. I thought this was the most I could hope for and resigned myself to always suffering from this problem for the rest of my life. Fast forward several months and I randomly came across an article online written by a dentist which included the top 5 toothpastes that he recommends. And in that article he recommended Boka toothpaste as his top choice for a fluoride-free toothpaste and went on to explain that the active ingredient in Boka toothpaste was something called Hydroxyapatite - which has been the gold standard anti-cavity ingredient in Japanese toothpaste for decades. Ive never really been paranoid about avoiding fluoride, but I decided to give Boka toothpaste a shot since I figured that Japan seems to have pretty good health and safety standards in general. And so if they trusted Hydroxyapatite, then it was probably safe and effective. I also asked my dentist about it, and he gave it the thumbs up. I was so happy when I used it the first time and experienced ZERO irritation. No stinging, which I always experienced with normal toothpaste, and, most importantly, NO SKIN PEELING ON THE INSIDE OF MY MOUTH. I was thrilled, and surprised. I couldnt believe that I finally found a solution to this chronic allergic reaction to normal toothpaste that Ive been experiencing for my entire life, and only after one use! And so this toothpaste gets a 5 stars from me for that alone. To rate the other aspects of the toothpaste, the mint taste seems more mild and natural. And so thats a plus as well. But theres a couple of minor downsides. 1) its a bit pricey, but thats not a deal breaker for me since I only use a pea sized amount twice a day; whereas with other toothpastes I used to use about an inch of toothpaste. 2) the twist-off cap is slightly annoying since Im worried about dropping it and having to wash it. I much prefer the always-attached flip cap design on more mainstream toothpastes. And 3) I prefer the metallic bodies of old school toothpaste tubes since it makes it easier to roll it up as you use it and get every last drop out of it. But again, those 3 minor gripes arent enough to prevent me from giving this toothpaste 5 stars. Ill always be grateful for this company and a loyal customer for creating a toothpaste which cured a chronic health issue that I had been dealing with ever since I was a kid. Please never stop making it!

> 3 dayDo I brush my teeth every single night? Nope, never have been consistent with that. But I am an avid user of this toothpaste specifically the mint flavor for roughly two years now. Background: I have been cavity prone since my very first trip to the dentist, multiple cavities per visit, for over decade. My last two visits to the dentist since switching toothpaste- NOT a single cavity! In fact the last time my dentist told me “keep doing whatever you are doing”. Never thought I’d hear those words.

> 3 dayI always used to feel nauseous in the morning after brushing my teeth. boka is much less strong of a taste and sensation than usual mint, which has helped me not have sensory issues. i use it alongside a flourite toothpaste for more cleanliness, but boka is my favorite. i dont think i would have been able to keep up with my teeth health as well during a rough past year without it. i frequently recommend it to my friends with adhd and/or autism that struggle with keeping up a brushing routine. basically: i love it. highly recommend, esp for neurodivergent adults/kids.

04-11-2024I bought 6 different sensitivity-fighting toothpastes, including top brands like Sensodyne, and this is the best. Additionally, it tastes great and leaves my mouth feeling fresh. No weird squeaky clean feeling that competing products cause.
