> 3 dayI was in the market for a new laptop, so when I saw this (through the Vine program), I ordered it. Id never owned an Acer computer before, so I didnt know what to expect. Im not a gamer, so its no doubt overkill for what I need, but what I love about it is that its so capable that it could be a substitute for my desktop computer, in a pinch. And since I rely on my computer to earn a living (Im a writer), thats important. My other laptops are either ancient and unable to be upgraded/updated (a 12-year-old Macbook Pro) or less than ideal (a small Lenovo convertible laptop/tablet).

Greater than one weekI have two of these laptops, both were purchased brand new. Both were used about the same amount by two different people. Both had their CPU fans die at almost the same time. When I say die I mean loud noises, scratching, not cooling efficiently enough.

> 3 dayOn paper, the Predator Triton 500 SE seems like the ideal powerhouse laptop, and it very well could be for advanced content creators. The most demanding gamers, however, will need to decide if the power-constrained graphics chip is a worthwhile trade-off for the laptop’s thin and light design.

> 3 dayThe Predator Triton 500 has got serious game. Featuring mad tech including top of the line processors, audio and video drivers, metal chassis, vortex air flow and etc., the Acer Predator Triton 500 is a wise investment for the serious gamer.

> 3 dayFor the amount of money spent on this laptop, I was extremely disappointed. The display would constantly black out. Tried all the recommended work arounds that Acer has posted on their forums for this KNOWN issue. None of them lasted. I finally sent it back to Amazon and they graciously gave me a full refund. I would NOT recommend this laptop to anyone.

> 3 dayI’m a casual gamer with a nostalgic affinity for some older games (MoH, original CoD series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., etc.), but I also play World of Tanks and Tom Clancy’s The Division (1 and 2). My standards are no where near the finicky standards of hardcore players, but I do want a machine that can smoothly handle the high-end graphics of the more modern games I chose to play. While I though the ACER PREDATOR TRITON 500 would be a step down from the ASUS ROG I was using, I have come to love the Triton 500, but I would recommend the 1 TB version over the 512GB.

> 3 dayInitial impressions of the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE are strong. Its a rocket of a laptop with impressive surface stats. The Core i9, RTX 3080 TI, and smokin fast DDR5 memory look like a dream build. A comparably built Razer unit runs almost $1,000 more than the Acer.

> 3 dayThis is an excellent gaming laptop. It is thin, light, the screen is gorgeous, and the chassis looks fantastic. However being thin and light the thermals are always going to be terrible. If you use the discrete GPU this laptop will heat up to around 90 degrees for the CPU and GPU quickly doing even basic tasks such as web browsing, reading emails, or youtube. You will not be sitting with this on your lap at these temps it is painfully hot. This Triton ships with discrete GPU always on in the PredatorSense menu. Turn that off and it will only use the discrete GPU when needed (for gaming). This allows this laptop to maintain a much more comfortable 35 - 40 degree temp for everyday tasks and remains very quiet with low fan speeds at these lower temps.
