When I first got into 3D printing, I didnt know these things existed. I quickly found, however, that the 608 is the bearing of choice for many 3D-print projects that need rotating parts. I really dont know how long it is going to take me to use all of these (so far Ive only used them in three projects), but I couldnt pass up the quantity price. They fit perfectly in every project that calls for a 608, they turn smoothly -- whats not to like.

I bought these to use in DIY tools with parts I’ve made on a mill or lathe. I made the mistake of not reading all the reviews. If you want cheap bearings in bulk, this is a great buy. If you want any kind of quality, keep looking. They came in two packs of five tubes of ten bearings each. Every single one of them has some kind of rust. I didn’t expect any rust. If I’m going through the trouble of hand carving metal on a manual mill or manual lathe to build a tool, I don’t want to use rusty parts. I doubt I’ll ever buy these again. The only reason they got a second star was because of the low price per bearing. I’m sure I can find something to do with them, I just can’t use them in anything I ever want to sell if I want to build any kind of reputation for quality work.

No nylon cage contrary to description. Metal cage. Non removable type.. Seals (shields?) are black, not red (not that it matters that much) but made of thin, flimsy plastic material. All the bearing shields Ive seen have been made of some type of thin metal alloy material, with a rubberized coating on one side. Not these. These flex a lot and dont seem too precise a fit, compared to the other type. The bearings had kind of a scraping quality to them, not smooth or particularly quiet. I had heard that its better to buy cheap bearings because the ABEC rating doesnt matter all that much unless its a very, very high RPM application youre using them for and that if you go for a higher ABEC rating, youre just wasting your money.. But I suspect theres something going on with these bearings that doesnt have to do with the ABEC rating at all. Not sure what it is. But maybe the moral of the story is that you just cant get 100 good quality bearings for $20? Perhaps. * Since originally posting this, Ive come to the conclusion that the problem lies with the metal cages that hold the individual ball bearings in these bearings. Because everything else about them, with the exception of the flimsy black plastic shields that probably arent really contributing to any problems (despite being flimsy) ...everything else about these bearings seems to be fairly similar in quality to other similar bearings that Ive had EXCEPT for these metal cages. They just seem to be made of a very thin metal and also seem quite flimsy and not precise.. and they are important. In fact I noticed that one of the individual ball bearings in one of these cages wasnt even centered properly in its little cup. So I think this is the problem. Which is why they scrape and do not roll smoothly in my opinion

As others have stated these are covered in grease. Its a basic coating that most bearings you order come with and was not a big deal. The bearings come in these plasic tube holders and all i did was fill it up with rubbing alcohol (best i had) and shook it then used a paper towel to clean them off. So far out of the 2 tubes ive done that to and tested, ive only had 2 hard to move bearings. It was clear this was due to the plastic cover not fitting well and not a problem with the bearing itself. If you have the time to clean them or were planning on using the bearings in a more mechanically heavy application and will grease them yourself then these are perfect. Very cheap and so far average quality. The grease smell is just a normal one i dont know why some people were overreacting. Im building mechanical joints for a raspberry pi project and these are exactly what i needed to ensure everything moves properly. I may clean them and mix in graphite powder with more grease to use them as sliprings since damage is not a concern for the sheer plethora i now have.

Had five different 608 bearing types delivered to test for a device I’m building. I’m throwing these away, all 100 of them. These feel like they have sand for a lubricant, and that’s just testing with my finger tips holding and turning the bearing. Under load these will fail quickly. If you need a bearing that will only last 24 hours, this is for you.

These bearings are not the greatest. I purchased them for use as a piece of a filament dispenser for a 3D printer. Basically, snap into place and spin. Thats all they had to do. The bearings felt oily yet werent actually very well lubricated inside at all. They also smell noxious, as contrasted with the ones I ended up buying after these, which spin immaculately and have only a subtle and inoffensive scent. Soaking these bad boys in Mineral Spirits did not help. The inside diameter is also wrong. Its like half a millimeter too large. This might be fine if all youre doing is making mediocre fidget spinners, but for use in an application where you expect to pop these onto something, they will be loose. Worth it to spend the same price for half the number of bearings from a decent seller, especially if you only need a few.

Ordered the 100 pack and only received 50. Without hesitation they sent me another order of 100 as soon as I messaged them. Definitely buying more soon, Im a 4th generation roller rink owner and these work great in the rentals after a good cleaning and some white lithium grease.
