07-11-2024We used them in roller skates. They are extremely rough bearings. And in a week or 2 some keep locking up very unhappy with them

> 3 dayI ordered these 608 Bearings for use in some projects I have for 3D printing. Some of the bearings are rusted. They dont spin and the ones that do are so coated in oil that you have to force them to move. They are crap bearings, if you can even call them that. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME GETTING THESE! Lets just say, its a good thing Amazon has a return policy!

> 3 dayWayneChicago is right on with his review and the cleaning. I bought some ZZ bearings I thought were compete rubbish (ironically the same brand/seller without knowing) Then I bought some more expensive RS ones, that were nicer, but a lot more. I needed a lot for my project, I saw his review and the comments on cleaning and I took a chance. When I realized the rubbish ones were the same brand, I tried cleaning those first and I was very happy with the results. Heres my observation/experience. Originally I soaked them in WD40 for seconds, maybe a whole minute, but I thought the WD40 would cut that grease. I think with some, probably the ZZ ones I had, the grease hardens and particles become the grit. Soaking for 6+ hours certainly broke down the grease. I noticed 2 ZZ didnt spin as fast as the others, so I put them back to soak. While soaking, I tried shaking them up every now and then, mostly it just sat there. Upon taking them out, I spun them before drying, some didnt spin so great, but got better and better as I spun them. I think longer soaking may have helped, I probably should have let them soak all day. The set I got came in 2 paper boxes. Each box had 5 tubes of 10 bearings. The bearings were all uniform, and generously coated with some grease. They didnt spin very well in that condition, There were no deformities, there were no defects in the lot. My application is fidget spinners, and after cleaning and light oiling they spun exceptionally well. If you need to take them out of the box and use immediately these probably arent for you. Unless of course your application requires the grease. But if you dont mind cleaning and oiling. They are quite the bargain. Just remember if you clean them, do it safely and well ventilated and Im thinking the longer they soak the better. The cleaning liquid I used was dark blue/green after all the soaking.

> 3 dayThese are 608RS bearings a good value. At first they were listed as having a nylon bearing cage but, in fact, they are steel. I contacted the seller (a small startup) and they responded immediately and corrected the description. Unlike another reviewer here, I did not find the bearings that I received to be full of grease, though. There certainly was some grease inside. If using these for light loads, like skateboarding, try opening up one side and putting a couple of drops of light oil in (I used silicone oil) and give it a few turns to thin out the lubricant a little. That really makes these spin well. If using these for heavy loads and high RPM, leave the grease in, of course, without thinning. But, if using them for light loads, thinning the lubricant may just do the trick for you.

> 3 dayThey are super cheap! If you go through bearings fast then this is definitely the way to go! But they arent the most durable or the greatest quality.

Greater than one weekOverall very decent bearings for fidget spinners. Not Amazing, but the affordability alone makes these bearings a competitive product and after thoroughly cleaning them they worked well and spin for a decent amount of time. If you are using these bearings to make spinners as gifts (as I did) then these will work just fine. If you are making them to sell… I would probably pay just a little more for a higher quality bearing. I am not sure why I liked the “single lip contact seals” of these bearing so much but they were very easy to remove for cleaning and better yet easy to put back onto the bearing afterwards. Just don’t pry them up where the “608RS” is stamped as they are thinner there and are more likely to break in that area. Taking everything into account I would say that you get a good bearing for the price. The only thing I didn’t like (which cost a star 4/5 instead of 5/5) was the lubricant that they used inside of the bearing. I am not sure if they used a silicon or what but when I received the bearings, they were stiff and sticky and didn’t want to spin. With other bearings I was used to having them packed with grease. This was not the case here. These bearings were hard to spin and were pretty much unusable directly out of the package. These bearings were not packed with grease (as many bearings are) and when I took them apart to clean them, I didn’t see any grease at all. As I mentioned before they seemed sticky as opposed to being slick or slippery and I had a difficult time even spinning them. I figured I would simply soak them in 100% Pure Acetone as this is usually enough to remove lubricants from bearings that I have worked with previously. Unfortunately, after soaking them for over 24 hours in Pure Acetone (shaking the container occasionally) they were still stiff and sticky! I almost didn’t believe it. I soaked them for another 24 hours and they were still sticky! I ended up having to use some Carburetor Cleaner and then an Engine Degreaser to cut through whatever was making them sticky. I was kind of shocked at how resilient this sticky substance was. After finally being able to remove the sticky stuff from the bearings they smelled pretty bad (engine degreaser smells). So, I soaked them in 100% Acetone again for a couple of days, took them out, sprayed them off with compressed air while spinning each one and then I let them dry. They still kind of smelled so I soaked them again in a clean container with fresh and clean Acetone and that seemed to do the trick. Kind of a lot of work I suppose. But once they were cleaned the bearings fit perfectly, spun well and helped make some pretty good custom fidget spinners. If you don’t feel like thoroughly cleaning your bearings when you receive them then you might not enjoy this particular product. If you are willing to spend some time cleaning and applying some of your own elbow GREASE to get these bearing clean and spinning properly then for the price you probably can’t go wrong.

> 3 dayGot these for my rollerblades and theyre just OK. Im sure there are plenty of uses for bearings that dont need to be as efficient (electric skateboard, etc.) so if you have something like that, this would be a pretty stellar deal. However, for skates and regular skateboards that you use often, you may want to look elsewhere. UPDATE: After attaching them to my skates and riding them around a little bit, they seem to have loosened up and are now gliding much more efficiently. Raising rating from 3 to 4 stars.
