I have a 9,000 pound winch on my Land Rover. In the past, Ive draped boulder straps over the cable to prevent dangerous whiplash, should the cable snap or what it is attached to gives way. A friend of mine has a safety damper for his winch, which I thought was a great idea so I ordered this X-BULL Winch Damper . It is well made, reflective for nighttime safety, a bright orange so people can see it and stay clear, and attaches to the winch cable securely with sewn in Velcro. It provides enough weight to prevent whiplash in case of a failure. Overall, Im well pleased with this damper. It is easier to deploy and put away than the boulder strap I was using. It is a keeper and a good value for the price.
