These are dangerous bulbs. They look sound but the moment you turn them on they start to crackle and pop. Then they start burning and the ever familiar smell of something on fire starts to reach your nose. The bulbs then dont cool down when you unplug them. FIRE HAZARD. Be very careful if you buy and when you use them the first time listen for that tell-tale popping noise.

Horrible if your looking for long term use

This is first time using anything like this... I’ve been a heat mat and well like just say I’ll never use heat mat if I don’t have to. Very happy with output and longevity... going on 13months

They are awesome for the price, but the ones I received, only one works fully. The other is broken. Take heed and proceed with caution.

One works, but I purchased and need two. Second bulb’s base, the part that screws into the socket, disconnected from the bulb after it was half screwed in. Had to use a special tool to get it out. With a new batch of baby chicks arriving, I had to go to the store a purchase a replacement. But things happen. What ticks me off most is Amazon’s return window. Fine if you use a product immediately and find a defect. But what if you are planning in advance for something, like oh say maybe, 35 baby chicks being delivered in below freezing weather? No recourse with Amazon and no comms with seller. I’m a planner and this isn’t the first time the big A has stuck me with defective merchandise that I purchased in advance. From now on, if planning for chicks, a new dog, or putting in an irrigation system, or any of the dozens of projects ahead of me, I will be sourcing my product locally. I do not recommend this product due to poor manufacturing and quality.

With the thermostat and timer this product maintains both enclosures temperature and has not had temp variations like other CHE bulbs previously used. Two months of constant use and they are still working great for our oddball pets.

Only one of the two bulbs worked at all. The one that did gave only modest heat output. Returning both.

If you are using this for an animal, such as a lizard, be sure its set far enough away that it literally doesnt turn your little buddy into a crisp. Youll also want to mist inside your pets area, because this thing eats humidity, which many reptiles need to survive. In closing, yes, pick it up if you know what you are going to do with it, and are aware of what it does! Even a half foot away my hand gets too hot to the touch. Its good.
