For the most part, I like this software/hardware product. I actually am very happy with the hardware. It is easy to connect my old camcorder to my computer and transfer to digital format. I have been putting them (transferred home movies from VHS) on disk drives (I call them thumb drives). My somewhat low rating is for the editing software. If you try to get too fancy making changes, the program stops responding and if you dont save your project OFTEN, you lose all the work (and a lot of time) you put in up to that point. The PDF directions are easy to read and comprehend but it wont let you email it to print from a different printer. (Mine is out of ink right now and I wanted to email it to work so I could print it on that printer.) There are a few other options Id like to see added. For example, there is a title screen and a credits screen in the storyboard editing. You cant copy a photo into either of these screens. It would be nice to be able to do that. It would also be nice to add a picture to the transitions between clips. And, I discovered (during this last non-responsive error) that you can add text to a clip but only to the beginning of a clip. I would like to add text to the middle of a clip, kind of like an editorial during events. I will continue to use this program; I just have to remember to save the project often and find other tricks to make title pages and ending credit pages the way I want them by making a new clip screen and adding a picture. Hopefully, it wont freeze before I get each edit done.

I have been pleased with this product. I had no issues connecting or installing the software to my computer. I have been able to edit my videos and add titles. I am far from being tech savy and found this to be easy to grasp. The process does take time, but for the cost I have converted over 20 vhs tapes to dvd. The quality of the new dvd has met my expectations and is fine for what I want. It sure beat $20 a tape to send them away.

Starting at the Beginning and why I purchased. Wanting to transform my video tapes of family events and put them on CD. Also wanting to make CDs out of some tapes and LPs. I tried the cheap knock-offs for 11ish dollars...didnt work. Narrowed my choice to this and Roxio (I had used a previous version a few years ago). So I called Vidbox to insure this product would do what I wanted(I also wanted to see if customer service exists). I actually talked to a live human who I could understand. A HUGE PLUS. Did the same with Roxio and was directed to their online chat. The chat gave me a message about too busy and they will get back to me. A Day later they sent me a satisfaction survey....Dont bother. So Vidbox it is...easy install. Have Windows 7 64bit and installed perfectly. Didnt have to go hunting for drivers. Transferring From Camcorder...I use the advanced and this product is easy.. I followed the available help user guide and now have 7 DVDs. The look great. Had an old family recorded Christmas tape from decades ago that when played on tape seemed a little too high pitched. So easy to load onto Computer with this product, and easy to make CDs. Converted from WMA form to WAV then loaded into Audacity(free download) to edit the speed and now am happy.. Buy

I had a Diamond video capture device and VHS to DVD 3.0 that served me well for MANY years. Only recently did the Diamond stop working. I started looking for the replacement. Since I have been happy with the VHS to DVD product, this item caught my attention. I can tell you that the hardware that ships with it was quickly set up and is recognized by the system with no issues. The new version of VHS to DVD is a bit dumbed down, but it still does a great job of capturing off my DVR, VHS and other sources I have tried. I recommend it as a replacement for any old hardware / software you have for video capture.

It does the job really well and I dont have to pay someone to do it for me. It is time consuming to transfer VHS over to computer because it is done in real time but worth it in the end. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to degrade the quality a little bit. The preview window of the video looks better than what the final video quality looks like. Because of this, I docked it a star.

I have to say Im very disappointed in this software. I purchased and installed on a brand new computer with plenty of memory and a very fast processor. I hate how you have to click on the Text box several times before it will come up for editing. The instructions in the users manual are almost useless. (the users manual seems to be for a older version of the software). Adding chapters is impossible to figure out as there is no instructions in the manual that tell you how. I cant log into Facebook to upload a video. For some unknown reason, when I added multiple photos to a slideshow, it imported them upside down! The software crashes when you go to the next screen to burn the DVD. Im not a novice when it comes to working with software like this. Ive used similar software for years, but purchased this package for the small USB Video Capture Device, because Ive tons of family movies to transfer. Now Im looking for different software and mad that I spent my money on this and wasted so much time trying to figure out how it works!

Transferring VHS to external hard drive. A few things worried me. First, there was nothing on the box about being compatible with Windows 10 even though the listing said it was. Turns out it was compatible. No problem. Second, while recording the audio was a little off from the video. After recording was finished I checked the file and the audio was fine. No problem. Third, I have a DVD player on my laptop but not a burner so I am uploading movies to an external hard drive. Would not let me save direct. Had to transfer it post completion. No problem. All in all, way slower than using Pirate Bay but my internet provider gets a little pissy. Legalities being what they are this is the next best option I found. No problem.

Worked as described with Windows 10. After false starts because of DVD writer and with help from LIVE tech support was able to copy my collection of VHS tapes.

The device works very well for recording old VHS tapes. The product saved me a lot of time and money! The instruction manual would be greatly improved if more detail was included with respect to selecting the appropriate settings when using the setup wizard. I think novice users may find it difficult to follow.

I had rated this 4 stars before I got my new computer and Windows 8; it definitely works better with Windows 8 (and 10?). I have used this to create CDs from old audio tapes and DVDs from old VHS tapes and am quite pleased. Quality of output is not high due to RGA or S-video limitations but that is as expected. I was glad to be able to recycle my old home VHS recordings (since VHS players are now hard to find).
