> 3 dayThis is a terrible thermometer! It takes forever to go off, and it beeps so silently, I could not hear it at all until I took my own temperature to see if it was actually beeping. Once I had it in my mouth and just inches from my ear I could hear a slight three beeps when it went off, but the light doesn’t come on or anything to alert you that it’s finished. Then you have to push the button again to try to see what the temperature was. For $10 I expected much much much much more. I didn’t expect it to take a full minute or so to give a body temperature and I expected it to light up and one of the red orange or green colors once it’s finished reading the temperature. I have a $2.79 Thermometer I bought on Amazon that takes a minute but doesn’t have a light. It’s hard to read in the middle of the night with the lights off! I’m so disappointed with this purchase at that price! For $10 it should beep loud enough to hear and it should light up once it’s done. What good does it light indicator do if the light doesn’t even come on! You’ve got to fumble in the dark to find out the reading! For this price you can find a much better product!

> 3 dayThis is a quick, nice thermometer that has a big, attractive display and is easy to use. It deserves credit for being a good product all around. The biggest complaint I have about it is that it reads too quickly to get an accurate reading. I even warm the tip in my hand or under some warm tap water first to prep it. Still, I can take my temperature three times in a row and it wont come out the same ever. Itll be close though. I wanted precision and accuracy, however-- not just good enough. Well, its just good enough. Itll tell you have a fever, more or less.

> 3 dayThis thermometer reads fast and accurate, it is a must during the flu season! Came in very handy and allowed more time to rest in between temperature readings for my 5 year old.

> 3 daySure yeah, seems like a great thermometer. Big numbers, useful colours, and a clear plastic protective case to keep it in. GREAT! BUT: whoever made the genius call to save a few $ by including a low battery: you should be fired. With all the work put into the great packaging, and solid product engineering (seems well made), it’s all for nothing when I turn it on the first time and it immediately reads “Lo.” I would have expected more from Vicks, but it seems the times are a changing. I guess it’s a price motivation. Sure it’s cheap, but with something like this it FEELS cheap. Do better, Vicks.

> 3 dayIm putting mine into the e-waste today. The problem is that it doesnt wait until the temperature stops changing to take the reading. what needs to happen is it needs to just wait an extra second or two after the temperature stops moving before it announces a final temperature. unfortunately, it doesnt even wait for the temperature to be stable and will just stop no matter if the temperature is still moving. save your money and buy something else.

> 3 dayAmazon suggests buying LR 44 batteries for this thermometer right on its main sales page. This is NOT the right type and you won’t be able to use them. It’s a mistake. Thermometer is good and fast.

> 3 dayThis Vicks SpeedRead thermometer is excellent. In my experience, it has been 100% accurate, reliable, readable and usable in the dark. ACCURACY: Compared to a professionally calibrated digital thermometer I use for work, this unit was consistently within .2 degrees of accuracy. When compared to several other types and brands of thermometers I have around the house, the Vicks SpeedRead was within .5F freedom degrees. USABILITY: Theres only one button. It is accurate for oral vitals on children who are awake and old enough not to squirm for 8 seconds. Kids can immediately tell if they have a fever by the color-coded readout. It is a good addition for a mobile first-aid kit as it comes with a rigid case and is somewhat durable. Youd better have long fingernails or a small flathead screwdriver to unlock it and pry off the back to change the battery (see photo). Dont forget to pick up probe covers, alcohol wipes and a spare CR1632 battery. CAVEAT EMPTOR: This thermometer uses a CR1632 battery NOT an LR44 as in the description! Before you open the packaging glance at the manufacturing date. Coin batteries last between 2-4 years in storage, and if its at the tail end of that span you may want to check pricing on the battery v. the price of the thermometer and decide if its more economical to send the thermometer back or buy a new battery. The thermometer I received had been manufactured less than 6 months prior.
