I love all the whistles and bells on this scanner. Simple to program. Like the option of different display colors for different programmed talk groups. Only thing I dont like is its range. Poor in my opinion. I have a older hd956d its range is twice the distance of this scanner. Overall its a nice add to all my equipment.

Replaced my BCT15X with it, programming is much the same, however programming trunked systems is a major pain, even with the software. It helps to a ton to have a subscription to radioreference dot com. Dont even try without it. My only problem is Ive not found a good way to program talk groups, so i get everything, Police, Fire, EMS.... Sometimes all i want is Fire, i get tired of listening to the cops writing speeding tickets. If anyone knows how to do that, please leave a comment.

You definitely need a programming cable and free program software to get all you want....

Double and triple check that the frequencies you are trying to Program are NOT ENCRYPTED!!! All of the digital frequencies that I paid over $150 to have programmed are absolutely useless because they are encrypted channels. Now I have a $500 analog paperweight sitting on the table next to me!! It took well over a month to get the scanner programmed so I was unable to submit this for a return within the 30 days allowed by Amazon. Caveat emptor

I have 40+ years experience using programmable scanners and I found this to be difficult at first. The user manual could be much better. Dont try to program from the front panel, almost impossible, use a programming software to program. The scanner preforms better than I expected, picks up distant signals good. Over all, I recommend this as a scanner for someone that has experience with programming trunking systems. If you are just starting out in scanning this could be difficult for you to use and learn.

I gave the scanner 5 stars for easy to use but I warn you, I have been using scanners for 30+ years. If this is your first scanner, it may take a bit of time to get used to it. The days of crystals and two knobs is over. There are dozens of settings to use, many you will never touch. I think this is a great scanner for the price. If you are new to the hobby, give this scanner some time and you too will enjoy it.

I’m sure this is really a great product, but it’s defiantly NOT easy to set up. Lots of add-in’s to pay for. Apparently so difficult to set up, they offer an option to send your new scanner into the service shop to have it programmed by the experts. I don’t see that as a plus.

a little hard to program if your not used to radio.s,their are youtube vidio.s that can help, once you learn how it is easy,i love this scanner.

You can use the BCD325P2 to monitor police and fire departments (including rescue and paramedics), NOAA weather transmissions, business/industrial radio, utilities, marine and amateur (ham radio) bands, and air band transmissions. Features 25,000 dynamic channels.
