When the pandemic hit (and we decided to start keeping people out of the house) our best friends bought a cheap projector so we could watch movies outside. It cost something like $60 and it was OK, but not great. I wondered if we could do better. Another friend has an Epson projector, which is very smart, but $1,000. I told my husband that I thought I could get us a decent 10-foot wide screen and a projector for about $750. He told me I had $500, and I set to work… I spent a Saturday morning narrowing down options, and found this projector at $260, but with a $50 off coupon. I read the reviews and it looked promising. But could this *really* be any good for $210, I wondered? The unit arrived a couple of days later and I set it up. It was surprisingly bright. Better still, when I got it outside in the dark, it was bright and well focused right to the corners of our screen – text on menus was crisp and legible. For reference, the gap between the pillars in the pictures is about 11 feet. I had some misgivings about how good the digital keystone correction could be, but I neednt have worried. Before I found a higher platform, I was correcting up to about 8 on the menu and not noticing any picture degradation. A week or two into use, I noticed there was a bug-size blotch on the projector screen. Despite the projector having a removable dust filter, something had managed to make its way into the innards. I contacted customer support and they advised me to clean the screen, which – I have to admit – gave me some concern, as it involved disassembling the unit and removing a circuit board to get to the screen itself. This was quite fiddly, and I had some challenges in getting the ribbon connector to reconnect afterwards, but the offending dust particle was immediately visible and easy to blow away. So, not a great experience. But it worked, and Ill know what to do next time. I thought about knocking my review down by a star for this, but I guess it can happen to any projector… I just wish the process for accessing the screen were a little easier for the faint-of-heart. I have to say, the picture quality on this unit is as good as I saw on the much more expensive Epson. All that really seems to be missing is the extra connectivity (the Epson will connect to pretty much any cable you have on hand) and that the Epson will set itself up, do its own keystone correction and focus and so on. As long as youre using an HDMI source (or a composite cable - but why would you?) then youre fine. I usually steal a Roku or FireStick from one of our TVs and use that (and each HDMI socket has a USB next to it, to provide power). Some stereo RCA outputs would have been nice, but a $15 breakout cable to two XLRs allows me to connect the audio to our PA speakers, and works well enough. So, especially for the price, Id highly recommend this. It really is like having a drive-in in our front yard! Do your research. LED projector makers (especially cheap sub $500 ones) dont use ANSI lumens to measure the brightness. This is a HUGE difference. The conversion to ANSI lumens is approximately 1,000 light source lumens converts to 60 ANSI lumens (Light source lumen value x 0.04 to 0.06; the exact conversion rate depends on the efficiency of the projector’s LCD panel for each manufacturer). So if you think that this projector at 7,000 lumens is better than a BenQ projector at 500 ANSI lumens, you are wrong. The 500 ANSI lumen BenQ will be much, much brighter and probably much higher quality generally. And a 1,000 ANSI lumen projector will be massively brighter than any LED panel not measured in ANSI lumens. That being said, this projector works great in DARK environments indoors, and also at night outdoor on a giant 100 screen. But unless the sun has already set outside, forget about movie night in the afternoon outside, you cant see anything. Then again, you did buy this $100 projector, and for that price, you get what you pay for - Im happy with it, but I had adjusted expectations. And I dropped it off the table it was on, onto a stone patio, and nothing happened to it - which was another benefit I hoped for about having an LED light source instead of a lamp. If you drop a normal projector that uses a Lamp, a drop would almost certainly kill it. Again, $100 price point, with the idea that if my kid trips over the cord (like she did), and it falls, it maybe will survive, but if it doesnt, hey, it was $100 and not 10x that price.

I guess the best way to start out this review is to say that I believe this is a REAL projector. What I mean is that it doesnt look like it was thrown together in a back room somewhere. It comes packaged very well in a very large box. Looks like something that you would buy at an electronics store. Full instruction booklet with pictures. It’s design appears well thought out. The setup menus are well organized and easy to understand. I should also mention that this projector is big… really big. This is my 4th projector and its much bigger than the others. My old projector is about 8-1/2” wide by 6-1/2” deep. This one is about 12” wide by 10” deep! Im hoping that’s because they gave it more cooling room. And its heavier too. For our old projectors, we had a small ceiling mount bracket that only attached to the projector’s tripod screw hole. There’s no way that bracket would hold this thing. I ended up buying a new mount with the adjustable arms that attaches to the projector in 4 places. As far as picture? Pretty darn good. Very bright. Decent color contrast. I also noticed that the lens is bigger than my old projector. I measured the old projector’s lens and its about 2-3/4” in diameter. This one is 3-1/2” in diameter. Note, I measured from the focus ring because I didn’t want to touch the glass, so my measurements may be off a bit. Either way, it throws a nice picture. I can’t speak to resolution because I don’t care much about that, and I think that has more to do with the screen. My screen is just a flat-white painted rectangle on the wall. My biggest goal was to get a nice bright and clear picture on all 4 sides and corners even when using the keystone correction. I was able to do that without any issues. BTW, this projector has a manual focus ring that is smooth and works well. Can’t speak for the sound because I’m using an external sound bar. When our old projector started developing a dark spot on the screen (typical with these types of projectors), I began my search for a new projector. This was about a 3 week-long process because I was looking for one that fit my needs. I needed one that had vertical and horizontal keystone correction and a zoom feature because I don’t want to keep moving my ceiling mount every time I buy a new projector. I also needed one that was bright enough to display with the lights on in the adjacent kitchen. One thing to note about the zoom feature of this projector is that you can only make the picture smaller (not larger). Because of this and because I kept the new ceiling mount in the same place, the picture on the wall is a couple of inches smaller. That’s ok because I would rather have it too small than too big to fit the screen painted on the wall. Plus, I really don’t feel like moving the projector and putting more holes in the ceiling. I have it mounted about 9 to 9-1/2 feet away from the screen and it gives me about an 87 inch display. One other thing I should mention is that when you turn it on with the remote, it takes a few seconds for it to warm up. I am able to count to 11 before the picture appears on the screen. This projector is very important to us. We got rid of our TV in the family room a few years ago because we like the clean look of not having a TV cabinet and wires all over the place. This projector IS our main TV so I’m hoping it will last a couple of years. Like I said, this is my 4th projector. I started out with the cheap-o units and I keep going up in price. I paid just under $200 for this one and IF it lasts 2 years, that’s fine with me. For now, I’m sticking with LED projectors because the way I look at it, is if I spend on average $200 every 2 years on a new projector, I would be more ahead than buying new bulbs if I would have bought a ‘high-end’ replaceable bulb projector. For now, I’m happy with this one. If anything changes, I’ll post updates to this review. I always do!

My boyfriend could only think of one thing that he wanted for Christmas this year: A little projector he could use as a tool for his artwork by projecting onto a canvas. I searched amazon for something that would be high def enough and could be used close up enough for art, but also that looked like it would be good for video if he wanted to stream on it, was at a price point that fit my budget, and didnt require a cable connection so he could keep his phone wherever was convenient for music or w/e while hes painting. This Toptro Projector checked all those boxes, so I placed my order. What I didnt do that I should have was check the this item is a gift box when I placed the order because my bfs the one who answered the door when it was delivered, and it turns out it was only shipped in the projector box with the shipping label slapped on it (pictured). No generic, discreet, brown shipping box around it. While the surprise came for my boyfriend a bit early, I am still glad he answered the door and that it wasnt left outside where I fear a package with such obvious contents would be stolen in a heartbeat. I mention this part hoping those of you ordering can learn from my oversight and mark that its a gift so it gets shipped in something more discreet. Onto the actual review! I was gonna make my bf wait until Christmas to play with it, but we were in bed the one evening, not wanting to have to move aalllllllll the way - one room over ;) - to the living room to watch Batman.. one thing led to another and we ended upusing the projector to watch the Joker get apprehended up on the bedroom wall. Connecting wirelessly was a cinch once we found a screen mirroring app (Castto - listed in the google play store as Screen Mirroring, Cast to TV - Castto by SoomApps). The video quality was sharp and bright up on a space of wall about 88 inches across, even without a screen. I think it will do well when it comes to my bfs artwork for how close it can get to a surface and still project a clear image especially since the focus is adjustable. The audio from the projector itself is good for its price point, but isnt as loud or round as I would want for Mark Hamills Joker and Tara Strongs Batgirl so we ended up connecting a bluetooth speaker to the projector. Idk if its because of the app or the projector or both but there was a bit of a delay with the audio coming faster than the visuals. The delay was less if the speaker was connected to the projector rather than the phone, and that way ended up being short enough that my brain could connect the sights to the sounds comfortably enough. The projector comes with a little letter from Toptro that explains there is a three year warranty and lifetime technical support, you just have to email them directly since they cant respond directly to customer reviews on Amazon. Ill be emailing them about the audio delay and will update my review if theres a fix. Overall its a great value for the money and I am really pleased with its picture quality.

Last year I went crazy and built a 100” screen in our office and hung an old Sanyo projector I had inherited at some point. My wife and I decided it was time to take it seriously and buy a new HD projector for the room. We bought one of the cheap ones that fit in your hand and weren’t impressed at all. We had determined we wouldn’t get the quality we wanted unless we spent $500 or way more. Then we found this gem of a projector. Here’s, the deal. For this price range, this projector operates like a $500 to $800 projector. The focus is very detailed, the keystone is just like you would expect on a projector (vs a flimsy lever on some of the cheaper projectors) and the picture is surprisingly bright and crisp! This projector is bright enough to see in dim room lighting, but, obviously it’s ideal to watch in the dark. I think it’s as bright as I hoped it would be an brighter than I expected. The colors are vibrant and the fan is relatively quiet. It turns on and off as quick as a modern TV. The on board speakers are fine, I would compare it to the speakers on a TV, but, don’t compare to a surround sound system. You really aren’t buying this for the on board speakers, though. I have it hanging from the ceiling around 11 or so ft from the screen and had to use the digital zoom to get it to fit the screen. I have This is due to my previous set up and isn’t ideal for this projector, so, I expect, when I move it closer, which I plan to do, I will be even more blown away with this thing. I work in AV, so, I’m not clueless when it comes to this stuff. I have used this projector pretty solidly for about a month and a half now and haven’t seen any ign of hiccups so far. If something weird happens, I will update the review. Top trio says they have a 3 year warranted on this thing as well, so, that’s helpful. Bottom line: If you’re looking into the $500 range for a projector, I would try this one first. It is a remarkable deal for the price!

Review of TOPTRO Native 1080P Projector,6800 Lumens Video Projector Overall am pleased with the product for this price range. Gave it a 4 out of 5 due to the low Contrast Ratio (8000:1) and overall focus (See below) The projector is ceiling mounted about 12 feet from the wall and it produces an image with a diagonal of about 112 inches. I needed to remove the rubber pads to uncover the screw holes for mounting. The zooms for x and y axis can reduce the image digitally, so resolution can be lost, but viewing from 18 feet away this does not seem to be a problem. There are four preset picture setups, Standard, Soft, Dynamic and User Settings. I preferred to adjust the User Settings to my own liking and ended up with these: Contrast: 55 Brightness: 50 Color: 50 and Sharpness: 67 The Tint option was grayed out and could not be adjusted. But there is an option in the Color Temperature settings for a user to define his own. I have kept the color temperature to medium. There is a noise reduction option, but using it I did not seem to see any difference in the image. Was not concerned about the audio as I use an audio receiver to broadcast the sound thru room speakers. I needed to use the keystone correction to square up the image. This was easy to use thru the remote. But, it also may have affected the focus some on the left and the right. The images below are taken from close up. The middle one shows the pixels clearly. The other two from left and right they seem to be lost or just lines. But again, from 18 feet away, not too noticeable. Might check to see what the screen looks like prior to using the keystone to see how the focus is all across the screen. For most normal lit scenes of the inside and outside, they were great. There have been a few dark scenes that were difficult to see. This is where having just 8000:1 Contrast ratio is noticed. It would take several hundred dollars more to purchase a projector with substantially higher Contrast ratios. Would have been nice to have at least 20000:1 and preferably one with 50000:1. Have viewed some documentaries like BBC Seven Worlds, One Planet and the movie Ant-Man, Rio, and the projector did a good job. Bright enough for a lightly lit room, but much better when the room is darkened. Hope this helps. Kindness and mercy, we all need. 

Honestly, the image quality from this projector was far greater than I expected. This thing works REALLY well. The one downside is the volume. This projector is not loud at all. If you are looking for a projector with great sound and images, this simply isnt it. My projector is on a sideboard so it has ample room to have a speaker connected to it in the space. I use a small portable speaker with great sound quality and this completely resolves the sound issue. If you have the space to do so as well, this is a great buy for the price!

This projector is awesome! Its really easy to set up and you can get a great picture with it. The 4D keystone correction is great, and its really easy to use. The 50% zoom is also great, and its really easy to use. The projector is also really easy to connect to your TV, and it has a great selection of inputs. The projector is also really lightweight and easy to carry, and it comes with a great carrying case. The projector is also really quiet, and it has a great fan. The projector is also really easy to clean, and it comes with a great cleaning cloth.

Good product
