> 3 dayThis tool is very handy to make sure the outlets are wired properly as well as make sure GFCIs are in working order and the Test and Reset buttons work. I would recommend this item to all DIYers as well as apprentice electricians. This tester gives me confidence that I correctly wired up all my outlets including the GFCIs! The lights work and are easy to read indicating if it is wired correctly or if it is improperly wired. The is comparable to Klien, 3M or Ideal outlet testers.

> 3 dayAre the electrical outlets in your home wired correctly and safely? How would you know? Its possible for them to still work, but, not be correct and safe. With this tool, it is easy and the work of seconds to confirm that all the wiring is as it should be. Simply plug this into the outlet and look at which lights turn on - theres a straightforward explanation right on the tool of what they mean, what you want to see, and whats wrong if you see something else. This way, you dont have to trust your contractor or electrician to not make a mistake and wire things backwards - you can know for sure that the polarization is correct and grounding is safe, without you having to open up the outlets or touch any wires yourself. Every homeowner should have one of these. The body of the tester is hard plastic, so, unless you drive over it with your car, itll probably outlast you. Recommended!

> 3 daySeems to work well enough, but something is inside the casing and it rattles when you shake it. Call me old fashioned, but I dont like loose things inside my electrical equipment. Not sure Im totally comfortable using this on the regular.

> 3 dayThe first one I got was defective. It kept saying that my neutral was open which I know was incorrect and I even went through the trouble of verifying the house wiring. So I think it was just a dead bulb in the tester, or some similar defect. I sent it back and got a good working one. You can see in the picture how the Klein tester shows that there are no issues with the outlet while this product indicate that there is an open neutral. Quality Issues is not what you want on equipment you use for testing, so my recommendation is to just pay a little more for a well know brand one like Klein.

> 3 dayIve had similar devices like this in the past and this works just like them. There are 3 lights and based on which lights come on when you plug it in you can tell if your outlet is wired correctly. Its a great tool for a quick check. This one works well and I seems to work well.

29-10-2024This continuity tester is easy to use to test my grounding products. I like that it uses 2 AAA batteries, which are easy to install. And I also like that you can plug the end of the wire into the side of the tester to test the wire itself. Great product.

Greater than one weekThe AC Plug 3 Prong Electrical Socket Tester by Riqinxin is an effective and easy to use little tool. I often simply use it to verify that the power is off to an outlet prior to removing the faceplate cover. But at the same time, it tells me if the outlet is wired correctly or do I have the potential of getting into electrical trouble. Trouble readings are pasted on the unit for easy viewing.

> 3 dayWhat it wont do is tell you why there isnt power to an outlet other than bad connections or grounding. I guess I need a miracle or an electrician to track down the issue.

> 3 dayIt pains me to have to rate this socket tester low. Socket testers like these have been around for quite a while. There are major brands that produce these with the full pedigree of safety and certification. The circuit inside is not that complicated and anyone technically minded can copy it on their own. What makes a difference is when a manufacturer builds with a rugged case, the ability to test GFCI receptacles for proper wiring, and, most importantly, takes the extra step to get certification for safety from the UL or equivalent. Look, if youre interested in a socket tester like this, it means you want to know that wiring was done correctly and safely. So you also want to know your tester was independently tested and certified that it was built well, and built for safety. A tool to test for safety should itself be shown to be safe, right? This hasnt. Its not like we dont have alternatives. Rugged, effective, safe, and more complete (with a GFCI test button) socket testers are readily available from major brands like Klein Tools right here at Amazon, and for less cost. When this review was written (April 2023) this less featured, uncertified for safety socket tester for 25% more expensive than the Klein Tools tester. This doesnt seem right. I cant bring myself to recommend this socket tester to you. I did try it, my wiring is proper and it confirmed that, but I dont know what this tester will do when wiring is improper, either now or over time. I still cant believe this tester doesnt have UL certification, but that seems to be the case. If I find differently Ill up date this review, so come back and have a look. But for now it seems better to pass this one up. Why 2-stars instead of one star? Because this socket tester seems about as rugged as the competition, and it did work just like the competition on my known-good wiring, so its not a total write-off. One last note: you are reading a Vine review, which means this product was sent to me without my having to pay for it. I never believed Vine reviews, I felt people would say anything to get free stuff. The Vine program, at least for me, is a little different: I only get what I go out of my way to ask for, and everything I get is reported as income to me, so Ill have to pay income taxes at what will probably be reported as list price. I recently bought a Klein Tools socket tester, I even made use of its GFCI test button, I misplaced it, and I wanted another. Then I saw this socket tester was available for review. The price listed was higher than for a Klein, it was less featured than a Klein, and it doesnt seem like it ever was passed by the UL as a safe device to use. Hopefully, youll learn from my experience and youll check to see what other options you have.
