CPUID HWmonitor reports that the package operates at between 28-42C running standard Office applications and on-chip graphics in an ambient temperature between 20-26C. It nudges up as the room gets hotter but the CPU has yet to go higher than 42C. Obviously this isnt cutting-edge gaming, but speaking as an OAP I regard this as a good result on my first build :-) I cant see a tidal wave of excess thermal compound gushing down the mobo and flooding the neighbourhood, so I guess I used the right amount.

Easy to apply
