> 3 dayI hesitated buying Noctua because they dont publish TDP (Thermal Design Power) figures making it hard to compare to other models. I wanted extra heat dissipation capacity as I know that actual TDP can be much higher than the official spec for the CPU. Reading between the lines of their CPU compatibility charts, I decided that the NH-U12S would work well with my i7-8700.

> 3 dayI had no idea that my other CPU fan was so loud until I put this thing on it. Oh, I have to mention, I also had no idea that my previous CPU fan was inadequate to cool my CPU. This thing runs about half of my other fan, is quieter and cools better. im impressed!

> 3 dayI refunded this because upon further investigation I realized the dimensions were too large for it to fit my system. Pretty stupid for a heatsink to be too bulky when youve got sticks of RAM that resemble aircraft carriers, GPUs that look like spaceships, and other interior peripherals that are taking up useless space for aesthetic reasons when the things are meant to NOT be visible in the first place. There is no reason these cant be low profile and serve to the same end. I had to order a stupid corsair liquid cooler which I wanted to avoid doing at all costs due to how they are infamous for not working after a few months for no reason.

> 3 dayGreat fan, but too tall for my SilverStone GD09 home theater PC case. Its a true 4 wire, so the mother board can do PWM fan speed control. Make sure you enable PWM fan control in your BIOS. Very quiet and obviously a quality piece, but sadly too tall. In retrospect there’s probably no way to stuff a 120mm fan in most cases.

> 3 dayIm sure no one is surprised, that the quality Noctua brings is insane. Even their packaging is top tier. It is a bit expensive, and I wish the default color wasnt black but I cant hear a single thing and my CPU is always kept cool!

> 3 dayI decided to go with a product that no one seemed to have issue with after experiencing problems with the original aftermarket fan I bought. Noctua products are a bit pricey, but I think this is a case where they are really worth it. Everything comes in a nice package with the tools you need for installation. Installation for me would have definitely been easier with someone to help, but thats true for most things isnt it? Once I set it up, it works perfectly. My CPU is overclocked and with this fan, even when playing demanding games or emulating them, it rarely exceeds 60 degrees Celsius. Very satisfied and has been working great for 2 years now.
