Noctua NH-C14S, Premium CPU Cooler with NF-A14 PWM 140mm Fan (Brown)

> 24 hourAfter much research and vacillation between water vs air cooling, I went with the noctua. My Skylake 4ghz clocks to 4.7ghz with this--with water maybe I could get a little more but it doesnt matter to me; I mostly run it at under 4.5 anyway. The fan is dead silent and mounting the fan on top, as shown here, allows my low profile memory not only to fit under it but to be inserted or removed (ATX case). I also like the orientation of the radiator. Why? Physics--the farther out the mass from the point of attachment, the more leverage on the motherboard; this orientation with the radiator parallel to the motherboard keeps the mass close minimizing the leverage--the fan also blows right down onto the memory.

> 24 hourIt was a bit difficult to install in my mid size case but work the effort. It has dropped CPU temp 20 degree C and is almost silent.

> 24 hourI am glad I spent the extra money for this well built and extremely quiet cooler. Noctua uses a more sophisticated rating system to select the cooling power you need for your CPU, even if INTEL just tells wattage. Very high quality build and design. Its a big unit but it fit easily in my case and leaves real access to memory boards.

> 24 hourI used this in a Silverstone GD08 with a Ryzen 9 5900x. At peak temps in Cinebench I was seeing just under 70C. At idle its completely silent. I compared it directly to a thermalright silver sould 135 and the thermalright was louder but 2-3C cooler. So if its for a sffp and you will be near it constantly, this noctua is probably the best option. But if its going to be rack mounted or you arent going to be near it when it is running, I would go with the thermalright.

> 24 hourGood size for medium to large case. I was putting it in a Kolink case which is on the smaller end of medium and it was a very tight squeeze. Works like a charm though so once its in it stays. Very efficient cooler. I highly recommend it.
