> 24 hourMy gerbils love this! I use the niteangel desert sand, as well. No dust, no mess. They could take a sandbath for hours, and I enjoy that theres no major spillage. Typical gerbil swooping, but otherwise no mess.

> 24 hourI bought the Syrian-sized one originally for my Syrian hamster. It was huge, my wheel had to sit in it because in a 40-gallon breeder tank there just wasnt another place to put it. A 12 inch wheel stand basically takes up all the space in the sand bath though. lol. I had to take off the platform to fit the wheel. I switched it out for my Syrian for a smaller sand bath and moved this one to my robo hamsters cage. Its stacked ontop of a nightangel 6 chamber hide on stilts. This is really the best way Ive found to use this sand bath, otherwise it just takes up too much space in a 640 sq/in enclosure. Cleaning: ugh. Its wood. When I removed it from the Syrian cage there were big pee stains from where the syrian had been using it for like 2 weeks. I decided it wasnt the best use case because of that. The robo doesnt dig to the bottom of the sand bath to pee, so Im hoping she wont stain the inside. If she does its fine since sand will be over it. I prefer the acrylic sand baths for this reason, but Im hoping this big sand bath will actually contain the sand for my robo since she liked to kick all the sand out.

> 24 hourVery well made and my Syrian loved it a lot. The only thing is that I wish there was a size option. I have one of the Niteangel cages for my hamster as well as a few other Niteangel hides. The cage is about 776 inches of floor space. Combined with all the things in there this sand bath took up a good 1/4th of the cage. My hamsters a big girl and definitely needs larger things but this sand bath is ridiculously large. After having it in there for a week I replaced it and instead gave it to my degu. They love it! But unless you have a cage that’s more than 950 square inches of floor space this might not be the sand bath for you.

> 24 hourFor our uses we did require a couple modifications. I wanted to put a niteangel large wheel on it and it wouldn’t fit so we made a couple of quick cuts and I used some of those 3M velcro strips used to attach photo frames to walls to keep the wheel in place (it moved too much otherwise!). The bottom will eventually get nasty since it’s wood but it’s great that it’s safe for my hammy to chew! It would be nice if there were liner that fit the bottom though to prevent this or something of the sort. Otherwise, this thing is perfect though and can’t be beat! Honestly, between the niteangel wheel, sandbox and hide, my hamster is a very happy camper! Only a couple times I’ve caught him trying to get out and it’s usually when I let his cage get too messy! I clean it when I see his escape attempt and give him a treat and he’s a little happy camper again!!

> 24 hourThis is a nice sand box for a hamster. It is a little hard to clean the corners under the overhang.

> 24 hourI purchased this for my Russian Campbells Dwarf hamster who really likes sand. It is a very large sand box, and I filled it with 2 inches of reptile sand all the way around (about 3 lbs worth). She is much too small to climb in or out without assistance. I had to use a bendy bridge to ramp down into the sand box and another hamster toy to assist her in climbing to the food bowl portion. She still tries to pull her self up from the edge of the food platform and ends up flipping off and falling onto her back. Hamsters are not great climbers (except for Chinese hamsters-- theyre pretty good at climbing). Im fairly certain this would not be a problem for a Syrian hamster, but Campbells, Winter White, or Roborovski Dwarfs may have difficulty climbing in and out. The sand box is very nice though. Well constructed and made of solid materials. The bowl cannot be moved around; there is a hole in the center of the platform that holds it in place. You can remove the bowl, but then you are left with a hole. I think the design could be improved if the bowl were on the side so there would be enough room to put the Niteangel water bottle and stand. Overall, I would recommend this sand box for Syrian hamsters and larger hamsters. It may be difficult to use for smaller hamsters without modifications to help them in and out.
