> 3 dayUsed these to install my bathroom door. Very nice. These are not cedar shims but some other clear grained light weight wood. They are perfectly milled and you get a whole bunch of them. They were easy to score and snap also. I think they work better than cedar shims.

Dispatches from Galifrey
Greater than one weekThe headline almost says it all, people. For those of you out there who are unaware, my husband is a commercial cabinetmaker. He uses a lot of shims. A LOT of shims. So, when it comes to them, he knows what he’s talking about. When I told him his shims had arrived, he just kind of shrugged and acknowledged me. A few hours went by, when out of nowhere, I heard him exclaim, “These are really good shims,” and he has since told me more than once I “need to give those shims a really good review.” So, here it is, people. A really good review of these shims. Which brings me to the… Bottom line: hubby is impressed, and he does not impress easily. Highly, highly recommended.

> 3 dayThe wood from the Beddar tree seems nicer than the average-tree shim I normally use. Knot and split free, and that can make a difference when you are putting in doors, windows, ....whatever it is you want to be closer than average. Nice that they are in a box - chasing loose shims around is a nuisance also. If you do enough work of the type needing shims, dont hesitate to put this box in stock and not have to run to the big box store at the last minute.

> 3 dayI got these to use on projects around the house. The quality is good, and the box is nice to keep them stored neatly. They do the job they are intended to, and I wont run out anytime soon.

Greater than one weekGreat for leveling purposes, installing windows, doors, etc. Though I would dispute the extent to which they claim these are split resistant – they seem to me only mildly so. But these are wood shims and wood splits. If I wanted real split resistance and product uniformity, Id probably go with a plastic or composite shim.

> 3 dayI had an idea to use wooden shims for roofing on one of my paintings. They are perfect. The wood can be stained, trimmed...whatever I want. Perfect...five stars.

> 3 dayI have only used the generic type of shims sold at hardware stores, so this was a nice upgrade. They are more consistently shaped and less prone to splitting. The price is also on the high side, but they are worth it if you want to spare some annoyance. I have an old home where nothing is straight, so I use a lot of shims for simple projects like door and window replacements. These are extremely useful.

> 3 dayThis 84-pack of 8-inch shims comes in a box that can be continued to use for storage as you are using the shims. This is a bonus compared to plastic wrap that when opened you have a bunch of loose shims all around. The shims are a standard size you would expect unless you were looking for door shims. These are contractor grade shims and are comparable to what I used in the past. The angle on them is good. The shims go to taper to a height between 1/4+ to 5/16. Most of the shims measured to 7-13/16. I did count 84 shims in the box as well. If you need shims, this is a decent set.

Greater than one weekIts a box of wood shims. They are wood, and they shim. I use shims regularly on a number of different projects at home so this box will be great. I wont be worried about running out of shims for awhile.
