> 3 dayI’m a normal guy…. Using the term loosely. We have three dogs in the house. Two puggles and a beagle, so there’s a lot of hair. So much pet hair. We have LVP flooring throughout the house, no carpet at all. This little guy is awesome! We just moved into the house about a month ago, the J7 will work without internet, it’s just not as nifty. But it does its job. With Wi-Fi, this sum bitch is my new best friend. He runs every other day, and the floors stay clean. We just moved into a newly built house, so we don’t have a yard….. we have a dirt bowl and the pups bring in a lot of dirt when they go out. Even with that my little suck machine keeps everything picked up. When he’s doing his thing he’s not loud, but you know he’s there working. It’s much quieter than a conventional vacuum. He cleans about 1600 square feet for us in about an hour and a half. The AI is great because it will recognize the dogs toys and just work around them. So theoretically it won’t smear doggy dooty all over my house. The dogs hate regular vacuum cleaners, but they don’t even notice this thing. If they are laying in the floor it actually just works around their lazy butts. I have to change the bag about every two weeks, but amazon has an off brand version of the bag that is about $1.50 each, so no big deal. It’ll tell you when the bag is full, and it takes 3 seconds to swap bags. The only thing that is loud is when the vacuum transfers the load of dirt to the base station. It is more like a shop vac on the volume scale, but it only takes about 10 seconds for it to be done. As far as purchases that I stressed about and researched, I put days into reading about various brands. This is the best purchase I have probably ever made for keeping the house tidy. If the little bastard could bring me a beer, it would be perfect!

> 3 dayFirstly, Id like to say that before we bought this model, we had a Shark robot vacuum. The Shark actually vacuumed over some animal waste (my poor dog was angry pooping in response to me going back to work) and died. RIP. We bought this model as it claimed to be able to detect poop and not run over it. Thankfully, my dog got over his anxiety and went back to his normal potty habits so this feature never had to be tested. This vacuum definitely sucks up dust, dirt, animal hair etc. but I still use my traditional upright vacuum and mop and see a lot of dirt leftover, but this might be because I dont run it as I should. This thing is LOUD. The first time we ever heard it empty, we were in such disbelief it could be that loud that we checked to make sure all of its parts were in the right place lol. It is so loud that it activates my fight or flight response. I hate it. Sometimes it will empty 2-3 times in a row and I have to remind myself of how much it cost because my lizard brain wants to stomp it so bad. Theres also always something wrong with it. I have done my best to maintain it. I clean it, replace its filters, and empty out the bag yet I get a text about a malfunction about half the time. I dont know if we just got a bad one but we have had it for a year now and I dont run it as much as I probably should like I mentioned due to these issues. I think we will sell this and rebuy a Shark.

> 3 dayMy Roomba j7 did not disappoint! Spot on with vacuuming chores! My home is all tile, so I did not need the extra power suction that the Roomba s9 offers. The j7 is efficient at navigating the entire house and she returns to the charging station to empty the bin and starts from where she left off. Wonderful investment! She saves me so much time and energy!

> 3 dayI usually do not do reviews unless I am impressed or disappointed with an item and when I do so I try to be an asset to someone who is considering a purchase and thus my experience may help, I hope it does. Last October I purchased the Roomba J7+ to use in our home which has mostly wood floors, two fully carpeted rooms and one room with a large rug. I use the j7 if I notice something on the floor such as dust or perhaps a little fur from a fluffy cat so I would estimate the house gets a run about once a week room by room as is required but never all at once since it is not necessary in our home. As this semi-random schedule has become somewhat routine I have never seen the j7+ go into partial completion due to recharge needs, it accomplishes its job in a single charge before going back to base but of course the larger the house that would be different. The wood floors do make a difference as I only had to change out the bag in the base unit once. One thing that I customarily do is the recommended maintenance once a month as lint and such does accumulate at the ends of the rollers and I would recommend doing that routinely as it is easy to do in about 10 minutes. Has the unit failed on a mission? Yes it has on one occasion as it got into a room and closed the door on itself so that it could not get out so it shut down and sent me a notice on my mobile device, it was my fault as the door was left in a position that allowed the unit to get behind it and close the door on itself but not before it totally completed its job. If you connect the j7+ to your wifi system its quite an attention getter when you use a voice command to do a job and in fact, its almost scary how smart this thing is! I hope it doesnt photograph my checkbook one day and notify me its time to balance my account. Last suggestion ... do map your house as per the instructions and remember you have to re-map if you move the base unit but if you map well it does a magnificent job. I hope my review helps and that anyone reading this that purchases one has the same experience.

> 3 dayWe purchased this machine December 7, 2021. Our use: - We got it to help us keep up with dog fur, as even once a week is not enough for our 85 lb. yellow lab. - About 1,100 sq. foot main level, mostly hardwood, 2 rooms with carpet. One rooms carpet is high pile. - We like to run it 2-3 times a week. - We keep it clean and maintained as recommended. The good: - Time between needing to replace base bag is good. - It does seem to get most of the fur off the hardwood floor, judging by all the clumps are gone, but you can still find fur speckled around on the hardwood floor. - It seems to do pretty well on the carpet also, based on me testing by going back over the carpet with our good quality full upright to see how much fur I get. There is a little, but not much. - The dog is not bothered by it. :) The whatever: - Its pretty darn loud, but I was not expecting to not to be, so thats fine. The bad: - Often leaves thick strings of fur on the hardwood floor where it borders with carpet. Those need to be manually removed. - The wheels leave markings on the hardwood floor a lot, but not everywhere. I dont think its just skidding when turning, as the marks can be straight too. Rubbing with my socked foot seems to get them up. I suspect this may be common for robot vacuums. - The logic/app is not capable of predicting run times accurately, and does not include charging time. - The logic/app is not capable of predicting an intelligent point to charge, or how long to charge, in order to complete the job without needing to recharge again. - Unable to mark identified possible obstructions as not an obstruction, remember this next time so you constantly have to mark the same items on reviews after every job. The worse: - Mapping takes several clean everywhere cycles, where each take 9-11 hours (including charging time.) At least (4) of these cycles to get a map where you are allowed to place dividers, name rooms, etc. - The map gets distorted easily over time. Wall openings do not align, which messes up room and divider setup, and then you lose your cleaning jobs that have messed up rooms in them. - The robot will sometimes identify new areas, which are really part of the original map, but for some reason it thinks the room got 3 wider or it found another room, or something. These can sometimes break the map, causing the app to crash, and you cannot start a job without STARTING THE MAPPING ALL OVER AGAIN. - The robot gets lost easily. If it runs over a floor vent or anything else that may spin it a little, its orientation is messed up. I think it needs both wheels in constant contact with the floor to track its location. - It bumps into things constantly. I dont just mean chairs and other furniture; I mean even walls as its traveling. The plastic bumper sensor is very scratched up. - Trying to accurately place a no-go area on the map is very difficult, and takes several adjustments to get it right (which over time becomes not right) - It has trouble finding the docking station about 40% of the time. It will spend 5 minutes trying to align itself then give up and finish the job stuck, which means you have to start it over. We keep the base and sensors clean, so that is not a factor. --- It has also been (2) rooms away trying to find the docking station. UPDATE NEW ROBOT: (With the help of a $200 save coupon) I ordered a roborock Q5+ to replace this on the main floor. My hope was that the LiDAR navigation, along with stronger suction, help improve a lot of my pain points. > 3 dayFirst some background - we have a yellow lab, two girls with long hair and our house is mostly (dark) hardwood floors. Our dog sheds a fair amount and within a day or so the floors are covered in fur. I was using a big dry mop to clean up the fur and hair, and it worked well, but I wanted something quicker, easier and more effective. After doing some research on robot vacuums, I decided to give the j7 a try. Weve been using the j7 for over six months now and it does a pretty good job of cleaning up the dog fur. As others have stated, it is ok on carpets. If I really want our carpets clean, I use our Dyson stick vacuum and for two reasons: 1) It does a better job of cleaning. 2) Thats less fur and dirt that goes into the iRobot bag. I have the j7 on a Mon, Wed, Friday schedule. I had no problems with mapping. Anything we can get off the floor, like chairs and stools, we move to make it quicker and more effective for the j7. For us, the base vacuum bags last 1 to 2 months. Sometimes, if there is an excessive amount of dog fur on the floor, Ill dry mop the floor and vacuum the carpet with the Dyson, just so Im not sending all that dog fur to the j7 base bag. Also, if there is too much dog fur on the floor, the j7 will fill up and not be able to hold anymore fur, then start leaving clumps of fur in random spots. The j7 requires maintenance about every two weeks. The unit should be turned upside down and then checked for a build-up of hair and fur. Hair gets wrapped around the edge brush, in the roller/brush ends, around the free-wheel and if you let it go too long, it can impede the operation of the j7. The filter should be cleaned, as well. One thing to note, the unit is rather slow. It takes a couple hours until my first floor is completely vacuumed. It runs for a while, goes back to the base to empty the dirt contents and recharge, then then runs for a little while longer to finish vacuuming. If you are not home, its not a big deal. If you are home, you just have to listen to the vacuum running for however long it takes. Overall, Im happy with the vacuum. If you have a lot of hardwood, its probably a good option. If you have a lot of carpet, I personally wouldnt attempt to use it for that.

> 3 dayI’ve owned 4 iRobot products and each, except for this one, was almost totally worthless. Prior products were variously stupidly loud, made of poor materials, apparently designed by Radio Shack, and doomed to failure within 1 year. I’ve had the Roombas that used those irritating ’fence’ beacons; and iRobot floor mopping products that had software failures within 3 months. But now, finally, iRobot produced a well-designed mini vacuum that does NOT require manual intervention at every turn, is paired with an exceptionally good app that maps and has very useful features, and which can be automated to run when you leave home (and stop when you get back). Did iRobot hire someone new? Remove the previously cloddish team from the enduser experience? Sure seems like it. I want robotic devices that are easy to set up and which are not a regular time-sink. I want to be able to mostly forget about them. And iRobot finally made one that I do not have to think about much at all. The floors are merely cleaned of small debris that accumulates in regular living. Now if they could only do the same with an effective floor mopping automated robot that is not just dragging a wet towelette across the floor. Alas: Not yet. The price is steep, but they’ve always been steep for their latest innovations. This time — for the very first time — it has been worth it. Finally. Sure took you long enough, iRobot. Congratulations to whoever it is you hired to make a mini, light-use vacuum that delivers on promises you’ve made before, but did not keep.

> 3 dayThis is a great piece of technology. It does a pretty good job vacuuming. It sometimes gets caught up on chair legs or doormats. Its rotating brush wore out faster than expected. It often needs to be emptied manually. It takes a very long time. BUT... it does a pretty good job and it does it by itself! There is room for improvement, and we still need and use a real vacuum, but this little thing is a nice addition to our lives.

> 3 dayThis is a replacement for our 7 year old Roomba that just finally died. It is doing a great job keeping up with our 5 dogs. It takes several returns to the base to empty itself during a cleaning session due to all the hair, but that is not a problem for me. I do have to empty the bag every few days which is not fun to do (it involves needle nose pliers to pull out the dog hair clumps) but I feel wasteful throwing it out that often. It is noticeably loud when it returns to the base and the dirt/hair gets sucked up, but you get used to it. Would recommend.
