I have been building my own gaming pcs since 2011. In an effort to save a few $$, I opt to use the i5 vs the i7 and go for a higher end graphics card. While this may not be the optimal choice for most gamers, it has been a good working strategy for me.

Thoughtful preparation and careful execution resulted in a problem-free and successful installation and a PC that works well.

It runs at a base of 4.1 ghz

My temps were reaching 100C when gaming, so I opened up my PC and found the top two pins were disconnected from the motherboard because the fan is so heavy. I put new thermal paste and it fell again after still having 100C. I had to change back to the stock fan.
