Greater than one weekMy initial Core I5-9600K came in a sealed Intel box. When I installed it, I got random errors, and even periodic reboots. When I ran Prime95 it would consistently fail the self check on Core #1, even though temps never got above 59C, and I never attempted to overclock it. I initiated a return/replacement, and had the replacement CPU in two days, and it works perfectly.

> 3 daySo ordered this along with a Corsair case and a motherboard the cpu I first got didn’t work and the board I had works with 9th gen cpus z390 and z370 with an bois update work with these cpus and don’t get me wrong the i5 9600k is a amazing value for gaming with 6 cores and 6 threads even good for video editing from what I’ve seen in bench marks online BUT I got a cpu that didn’t work and then I ordered a replacement and got a 6th gen cpu, I’ve been out of a pc for about a week just because of this the only thing I’ve gotten correct was a Corsair case, so buyer beware hopefully they send you the right one or even a working one

03-11-2024Since Ive always used stock Intel coolers, I was irritated that the new line of Intel CPUs dont come with a cooler. I finally decided to get over it, and figured it would give me an opportunity to research and install my first third-party CPU cooler. My previous i5 build lasted nearly five years (-5-4440), and the itch to upgrade was strong, so I did the deed and built a new system around this CPU. I paired it with a MSI Z390 Gaming Plus motherboard, 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz DDR4 RAM, and a Noctua NH-U9s CPU cooler. The MSI board offers a very simple overclocking tool, and almost immediately I was running at 4.6ghz on the CPU and 3000mhz on the memory. The system stays at about 38C when doing basic tasks (web-browsing, music playing, etc.), and climbs up to about 60C under intense gaming - much better than the 56C/98C my old CPU would reach under respective conditions. The system is also very quiet. Heres hoping this CPU lasts five years like the last i5 I had did!
