HTC Vive Base Station

Greater than one weekFirmware refused to update without manual effort. Then it died a week after my return window closed. Vive makes you pay to send it back and might even charge you for the repair. Might cost more than the device. These are terrible but there is no alternative. Vive customer service is not as good as Oculus. Everyone I know has had a problem with a lighthouse and/or a repair ticket nightmare story.

> 3 dayUnfortunately, this is now my third base station Ive had for my Vive. Ive had the included 2 since launch and one day one has a rotor failure that would not be covered by warranty, and repairing it would cost about as much as buying a new one. So I bought one here. Less than a month after I bought the base station, it had the same failure as the first. So I had to return it and get a new one. And that was the only good part about the base station really, the amazon return service. If you have a vive I do recommend buying your replacement equipment here to keep from going through the hassle that is the Htc customer support.

> 3 dayHTC and valve really need to figure out inside-out tracking, the lighthouse system is becoming archaic in the face of the quest 2

> 3 dayI originally used these just for the HTC Vive Trackers when I had an Oculus Rift, but I have since purchased the Valve Index. They work perfectly with the Index. I have 2 of these Base stations, but my play area is large, so I am considering purchasing a third for that one corner in the room that doesnt track quite perfectly.

> 3 dayGot my new Base station today. Plugged it in, updated it, and we were off to the VR races. I was replacing an original base station that screwed up after an update. (Thanks valve) Everything is now working as it should. Well see how it does after some milage.

> 3 dayFor the amount of money the whole system costs, its crazy flaky and buggy. Ive had the thing for about a week and out of the 10 times I went to use it 3 times did it start up with not having to find the headset or to find out the battery died for the controllers or the head set couldnt find them. At least the controllers have a charge port.. but Why do the batteries die when not in use? Ive had to charge the controllers more often than I actually used the thing because the few times I went to use it, the batteries where dead. Then after they were charged. I had to waste another 20 minutes trying to pair them. For a system over $1,000 it needs to be on right away, all the time consistently. It needs to be working even when its off to be ready at a moments notice. If this thing was one of my employees, I would have fired them.
