> 24 hourThe HUH721010AL5200 model is an SAS drive, and will NOT WORK on a computer as a SATA drive. The SAS plugs are a uniblock that look like the SATA and Power plugs have been fused together, with the central gap filled in by pin connectors on the flip side. You need an SAS controller also, not just the cables. Silly me, I thought all hard disc drives used SATA or SCSI controllers. I guess SAS is the new SCSI (SAS= Serial Attached SCSI). Theres something new every day. Yes, there is a tiny description under the listing for this hard disc drive that says SAS - 7200 - 256 MB Buffer. Needs to be in big bold letters, in the title of this listing. The SAS standard has been around since 2004, but seems to have been mainly in use with large storage systems, and I had never seen a hard disk drive being sold in a consumer retail environment with this sort of connection. SATA models of the He filled 10TB HGST are the HUH721010ALE600, HUH721010ALE601, and HUH721010ALE604

> 24 hourJust got the HGST drive which works well, but due to my inexperience I needed some support. I bought the 10Tb HGST through Platinum Micro and they patiently answered my novice questions. So a thanks to them.

> 24 hourWorked perfectly first try. I have a mini-SAS controller in my computer, so no problems whatsoever. Know this brand is consistently rated as highly reliable - check out Back Blazes blog, they are a data backup company and release stats every quarter on drive performance, using many different brands.

> 24 hourThe spin of the drive is acceptable but every ~5 seconds the drive will produce a clicking noise with a strong vibration. Its disappointing that online sellers are doing this to take advantage of customers and trying to get away with it. I have to pay local taxes and shipping fees to return this.

> 24 hourIt shows 9 TB when linked to a card. It worked well. I used it wish LSI 9362-8i card. it is as fast as SSD as a single drive. Good, quiet.

> 24 hourExcellent drive, massive capacity, cool running. No warranty with HGST, though, so be aware of that when purchasing the drives from third party sellers.

> 24 hourJust plugged the serial number in to the HGST warranty checker. These drives are not covered under any warranty. So if at any point during the life of this drive it does. You are SOL and out $500. Despite Overstock literally replying to the question here about warranties: HGST makes a warranty of 5 years for this drive. By OverStockUS SELLER on July 26, 2016

> 24 hourRunning 10 of these HGST Ultrastar HE10 drives and have not had any issues. I have successfully been able to preclear each drive which verifies every bit is readable and writable. After filling them with data the drives still operate as expected. I have not run them at full SAS speeds and have not needed any warranty service in the first year of operation. I will be purchasing more and recommend them to anyone wanting to build a large array of dependable drives.
