> 3 dayIn my opinion, this is THE BEST tasting power gel on the market. GU has really hit a homerun with this one. A lot of their fruit flavors are pretty disgusting, and the Espresso is kind of grainy. This salted caramel literally tastes like youre eating straight-up caramel from the sundae bar!! My wife and I run 25-30 miles a week with long runs every week, and weve come to appreciate these quick fuel sources. She generally hates these types of gels, but this is the one flavor and brand that she will actually use. Plus, the added caffeine really helps provide some energy for those last few miles on a long run.

> 3 dayI use GU for fuel during my long distance runs, anywhere from 8 to 20 miles. Its compact, so its easy to carry with me. I prefer the salted caramel because its higher in sodium for electrolyte replacement and has 20mg caffeine for an energy boost. The flavor is good, as well as the chocolate flavored version. The cost is comparable to similar products, and Ive tried a few. GU is my favorite overall.

> 3 dayThis is one of my favorite supplements, I can use it with boxing, rock climbing, firefighting, general labor, great pick me up on the go. It has amino acids, the building blocks of protein, caffeine for muscle recovery and sodium to stay hydrated with extreme heat or heavy activity.

> 3 dayI’ve purchased a lot of GU but wanted to try a new flavor. I was not disappointed with the salted caramel. GU is my go to energy boost before and during any long run and when it tastes good it makes it even better. Love this product!

> 3 dayHave been using these for years prior to a run; great boost of energy! Need some water to flush it down though as it is a bit thick. I prefer the vanilla flavor and also the chocolate but that is even thicker. No after taste at all.

Greater than one weekI waffled between 4 and 5 stars on this one but ultimately went with 5 because this Gu fulfills its purpose perfectly: it delivers an extra hit of sodium in a largely non-revolting manner. (If youre new to Gu: most flavors have ~60mg Sodium while a few special ones have more; salted caramel has 125mg.) For me, getting the extra sodium in a delivery system that has a good chance of not being horked up into the cheering crowd (of elderly speed walkers - Im not a track star here) is crucial, and this Gu does that. Some finer points on flavor -- upon civilized taste testing it is rather like a tube of cut rate salted caramel, and out on a run where it counts the salty notes come through strong and help overcome the sweetness a bit. (A plus, for me, because its the cloying sweetness of the other non-fruit flavors that often results in the aforementioned horking.)

> 3 dayI am an endurance cyclist, and one of the challenges Ive had over the years is finding on-the-bike snacks that both supply carbs/electrolytes/caffeine AND taste good. Usually taste is the big issue for me, with things either being too sweet (which seems to lead to stomach upset for me) or tasting too much like chemicals. I tried one of these packets that a friend had while out on a bike ride in December, and it was so good that I promptly pulled out my phone, opened the Amazon app, and ordered a box. The salt component of this flavor keeps it from being too sweet, it has all of the rest of the balanced ingredients you need to maintain good performance on the bike, and I had no issues digesting it. I hope they make this a regular flavor, as it is one of my new favorites!
