This is my first projector and Im impressed with the picture quality. I havent used it on a projector screen yet but I hear they make it even better. I did lots of searching and watched lots of reviews here and on yt before deciding on this model. The coupon at the time of purchase was a good motivator too! What I liked on this unit over others was the built in filter and lens cover. However, the lens cover isnt so convenient. Turns out the lens has to be retracted before the cover can be slid over. So if you want to leave the projector out but cover the lens, you will need to refocus the picture next time you use it. No, that not a difficult task but it takes away from the convenience. The audio is this unit is nice. Not home theater nice but definitely better than I expected. At times it sounds like its coming from the projection wall. That could be just in my head and results will vary due to room variables. I havent found a way to control volume from the projector but the remote has a few buttons for volume control. The remote is awesome! It allows you access to all the projector functions including volume and zoom. Zoom allows you to set the projector at a further distance and shrink the image to fit the wall. Zoom is a descending function and to get back to 100% to just keep cycling down until it resets. I believe it goes to 75 then recycles. As you can see from my pictures it also fits a typical camera tripod. Not much to be said about this but will work well for my intended use. About the wifi direct. I couldnt get it to work with any android phones. I tried casting/ mirroring directly and through our home wifi with no luck. I could easily find the unit both ways but could not establish a mirroring. I ended up using a Roku but great success after trying a failed fire stick. Well save that for another review, LOL. I would recommend this unit for anyone that wants to try out a projector. If course I would caution that if youre only means of use is mirroring.

Once the projector is hooked up and adjusted, it is quite spectacular. The controls are simple enough for anyone to use. My 5 year old daughter can run the controls. Very impressed. Good find

Was kind of skeptical about this because of the price. Also, it said it would t arrive until November - December. It arrived the same week I ordered it and it has exceeded my expectations! Kinda wish I had bought 2.

    Greater than one week

This is as average as it gets. The resolution is poor. The brightness is really poor. Even in the darkest room, I had trouble seeing anything. It feels like having an oven running while its on. Menus and UI are bland and unclear in many ways. Not a lot of options either. Furthermore, the title says it has wi-fi, which is true in part, but it only works for screen mirroring, not to connect to wifi networks. I know this is a budget projector but this is below standards in my opinion.

This is a native 1920 by 1080 (1080p) relatively low cost projector. Its got good brightness and sharpness when projecting straight-on in a moderately dark room (Two 40 watt LED shop lights on 10 and 25 feet away, out of the projection area). It came with a nice padded case, a remote, and accessory cables. Its printed instruction manual is good, although it needs spelling and grammar editing. Its the first projector Ive owned that supports WiFi connectivity. More on the negative side, the fan is pretty loud and focus quality suffers in parts of the image when keystone correction is applied. In the right circumstances the projector could serve you well, but note the negatives. My application is dynamic scenery projection in a decent sized model train room. Picture three or four projectors in a line projecting panoramic scenery as trains pass by. The projectors will be about nine feet (3 meters) off the floor, projecting onto a surface approximately 10 feet (3+ meters) away. They will be pointed downward 15 degrees, which is the typical keystone adjustment limit on projectors like this one. They will be left plugged in when not operating. Images will be sent to them via HDMI or WiFi. Projector audio will not be used. This setup gives me approximately a 48 by 80 image, just under 100 on the diagonal. With an HDMI setup I envisioned a wireless Raspberry Pi connected to the projector and to a central controlling computer. With the projectors WiFi capability the Raspberry Pis can go away; the PC can communicate directly with the projector through wireless. Image quality: Its quite good with a 100 image. With a native 1080p resolution it displays 4:3 images (e.g. 640 x 480) in a narrower format, and it scales 16:9 images, like 1280 x 720, up to the size it projects 1080ps. I did an A-B comparison of 1080p and 720p versions of the same image and found the upscaling of the 720p to be decent. Text I overlaid on the 720p image remained quite readable. The seller claims this projector can produce an image up to 250” diagonal. That’s believable in very dark conditions given the projectors brightness. In general I would still prefer to make a smaller (e.g. 100”), much brighter image when possible. The inverse square law applies here and if you take a perfectly bright image with a 100 diagonal out to a 250 diagonal (more than doubling distance projector to screen) youre going have a whole lot less light striking your retinas. Audio: I didnt test the audio. Ive been an audiophile all my life and theres no way Id play a movie using the audio system in any projector Ive ever seen, regardless of price. If you plug headphones into the audio out jack youll surely get good stereo --as good as whats coming into the projector. (Note no support for anything beyond PCM stereo. With these low cost projectors you often see complaints about no audio when playing a movie. Its because the projector cant handle more modern multi-channel audio. It stays silent.) This projector supports Bluetooth. Thats Bluetooth audio output only. Dont expect to feed Bluetooth audio (or compressed video) to this projector. I expect the Bluetooth audio out is nearly as good as the hardwired output of the projector. I didnt test it. Fan noise: Its pretty loud. You wont want to be sitting very near this projector for no/low volume applications. My experience is these lower cost 1080p projectors are louder than smaller resolution, lower lumens projectors, probably because of a need to remove more heat. The fan noise is still louder than I like. (Your mileage may vary.) You can hear it easily (but not overwhelmingly) from ten feet away. Keystone adjustment: My application needs 15 degree downward keystone correction. By my measurements, 15 degree correction is achievable, but when correction is applied text focus becomes non-uniform, e.g., if text on upper lines is readable, text on lower lines becomes somewhat fuzzy and vice versa. This goes beyond the fuzzy corners issue that arises with most low cost keystone correction. Im talking about text that is centered horizontally. You cant make that upper and lower text stay in good focus at the same time. Of course images will be affected similarly. Power: My Kill-A-Watt says the projector is using under 10mA (under a watt) when completely shut down and settles down to about 88 watts when running. If the projector has been unplugged for more than an hour or two you get an audible/visible arcing when plugging the power cord in. I understand why the manual tells you to plug the projector end in first. My guess is theres a capacitor charging in the power supply. The WiFi experience: I connected this projector to a spare wireless router thats not connected to the Web --its a good bet this projector, like so many other products, will try to phone home as soon as it gets the chance. (My home security network is not connected to the Web because I know the net cams in that system are constantly trying to phone home.) The WiFi works. I was able to connect the projector to the secured router, and then connect my laptop to the same router. I was able to screen share to the projector. With small effort Ill be able to write a Python program that sends a selected set of images to the projector, just as my setup needs. Bye bye Raspberry Pis! User experience: The buttons on the projector work well, although it would be nice in a future firmware update if the seller added a little more delay to auto-repeat. What sometimes feels like a normal click can send you multiple choices away from where you were aiming. The menu system is clear and intuitive. The projector has user control over some image size reduction (up to 25%). On the Amazon site the seller says you can reduce the image by up to 75%. Not true. You can reduce it TO 75% (in one percent decrements) without moving the projector. Additional features: The instruction manual is OK. Youll get what you need out of it. Accessories: functional remote control (includes on/off), and HDMI and A/V cables. Bottom line: Its a bright, sharp projector when used straight-on. Its got a decent image with good brightness. Its got a good user interface. It does decent upscaling of lower resolution 16:9 images. Its got a nice case. But dont count on the keystone correction to give all that can be reasonably expected. And the fan is fairly loud. This projector is borderline for my intended application, mostly owing to the keystone correction issues. There are software methods for dong keystone correction of images but thats more labor intensive. I’ve taken one star off for some fan loudness and less than desirable keystone correction. Im really happy to see the capability for connecting through wireless.

I was hesitant about the quality of the product as the price as so low but I was surprised to find out the picture quality was very good. its easy to setup and wether you connect via wifi or hdmi cables, both are simple and quick connections. overall I am extremely satisfied with the quality and you cant beat the price. also, having a remote is a very nice touch so one doesnt have to get up and down to change the volume., I would highly recommend this product

Upgraded Rec. 2020 Color Gamut bringing higher saturation

The color space is the range of colors that a video projector can produce. To simplify a bit color gamut defines the maximum saturation for the primary colors, red, blue, and green that the device can display. Rec. 2020 supports a wider gamut than Rec. 709 and DCI-P3 so projector is able to project a color that has a more pure hue and higher saturation. So your greens are more "green", your blues are more "blue", and your reds are more "red."

JQ450 Projector"s Brightness Uniformity is up to 90%, bringing the brightness and sharpness of the edges closer to the center

  • Uniformity is a measure of how uniform the brightness is across the screen. Generally speaking, the brightest part of the projector will be the central of the screen, and the darkest part will be the edge of the screen; therefore, when the uniformity is higher, the consistency from the center to the edge of the screen will be higher, and when the uniformity is lower, the edge will be blurrier.
  • Poor brightness uniformity, as illustrated in this graphic (on the left), can result in noticeable fading at one or more corners or an obvious hotspot at the center or elsewhere.
