> 24 hourMy Russian tortoise is not very crazy about the crushed walnut shells. I guess he has no choice but I will not buy again. It is very finely crushed and has a nice scent. But it’s not his favorite. I believe it is not because there is a problem with this product but just my tortoise is not crazy about it.

> 24 hourI’ve been using this along with Eco Earths Coco fiber substrate for my Mexican Black Kingsnake inside a 40 G Breeder Tank. I use both substrates half and half, the crushed walnut to the left and the Coco Fiber to the right. There’s speculations online saying crushed walnut is a no go for reptiles for numerous reasons such as in indigestion from eating some of it while eating food that was on it, and scratching your pet/pets eyes due to its rugged nature. Well I tested this by only feeding my snake on a dish, and that lasted about 1 week until she managed get it all over her dinner and had a crunchy mouse. I can confirm this substrate has been fine for her and I haven’t run into any issues and the tanks been up and running for 2 years now, she sleeps on it all day, and moves around on it all night.
