I thought the drive was defective, as Ive never seen an SSD as slow as this one. I tried different enclosures, different cables, even returned it to Crucial for a new one. Same abysmal speeds. 30mb/s average read/write. Much slower than my external spinning drive. Useless for anything other than backups or mp3s. Do not buy this drive. Samsung is far superior at average 500mb/s read/write with same enclosure on same cable- a 1500% difference in speed. On Mac M1 Monterey.

I installed OS in ssd and use old HDD for storage on my 5 year old pc. now pc performance is very fast

Ssd appeared to be new but was used. I had to format the drive since it was in use by someone with an HP computer.

If your PC or laptop takes ages to boot up and become responsive, then I can heartily recommend this product. Ive upgraded several laptops and find they boot about 5x faster. General speed where disk access is concerned is also of course, much faster. Well worth the investment.

If you are looking for a cheap performance increase a SSD will do the job.
