Stock ram inside my Alienware M17x R3 was 6gb of ram. It wasnt enough for gaming purposes as I use this laptop for a wide variety of gaming in Florida from your 90 degree ambient Florida temperatures outside to your normal inside use. So ive stressed this ram out. The features it says about it auto- Overclocking is actually true. It will automatically overclock to 1600mhz respectively out of the box without touching bios. This was done on an unlocked A12 bios(Alienware) again not the same for everyone but it gives you a great idea of how supported these ram sticks are=)

Bought these to maximise my Lenovo Legion Y720 laptop to 32GB and works perfectly. Dual boot Window10 with Antergos (Arch) Linux without issue. A mate is using these for 2017 iMac 27. Please note that the labels are just sticker, not metal plate heatsink in case you worried about fitting issues.
