I owned the canon mp240 and it broke but I had a ton of ink left so I decided to get the 480. Ive only used it a handful of times but it works great. I thought for the price, you cant beat it.

I needed a cheap photo printer to make prints for my photography portfolio--this fit the bill wonderfully. I wasnt particularly expecting quality, but the details quite nice, even just from jpegs. Mine came with a free pack of Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II 4x6 (might be in description, but I wasnt expecting it... nice surprise :-) which prints well and feels nice. Well see how long the ink lasts, but note that there is an extended (XL) version of the black ink for 25% more than the regular ink, which apparently lasts much longer. If theres no update, you can assume that Im happy with ink longevity. The LCD is a bit small, but its nice to be able to print directly from SD cards. Note that I cant find a way to print documents from the USB stick, which would be really nice. I havent tried it with pictures, because Ill never use it for that. No cable included. I had an ugly offwhite one laying around--my printer mailed BEFORE the cable. Crazy fast shipping from amazon. No full length paper tray, theres a flip open holder, but if you print a lot dont leave it sitting by itself. Im only using it to print 5 large pages at a time tops, so its not an issue for me. 4x6s wont fall or flop. Overall, really nice. I wouldve preferred a gloss black, silver/black, grey/black, or solid grey or silver. The colors more like a dull white/black. Doesnt look bad, but I cant imagine it goes well with much. Edit: I didnt actually end up using the printer extensively until this week, Ive printed about 40-50 color 4x6s from a recent trip to D.C. It looks like its been reduced to somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 ink on the photo ink cartridge (though, a good half of the scenes I printed were very dark of the monuments at night, so that may skew the typical results a bit). Im thinking I should get at least 80 and possibly up to 100 4x6s per color cartridge. Ive only printed a couple of pages of black print, and its still at full, so I cant say how long it lasts yet, unfortunately.

I recently replaced my ink cartridge but Im having a problem. Every time I print many lines on the page appear with a black line running through them. Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone have a suggestion of how to fix this problem? Thanks, Shira

The title just about says it all. The quality of this printer is fine. Ive owned many printers in my life, but this is by far the biggest ink hog I have ever had.

Pleased with this printer, and for such a small price, it more than compensates for any shortcomings!

After my wife went through two HP All-in-One printers, I turned to the Canon MP480. We are glad I did. The unit seems to be much better made and is certainly more durable. The ease of use and print quality has a wow factor and Canon is known for the quality of its photos. If you have stuck with HP over the years like me, this Canon is worth considering.

Have used this printer now for two years and it is still functioning well. Other than the usual complaints of high-cost ink and no faxing abilities, my only complaint (recently discovered) is that all functions shut down when the ink on this printer runs dry. For example, I need to scan a document into my computer. I ran out of ink yesterday and received an error from the printer. Even after shutting it off, the error is still there and I cannot override it to scan, despite the fact this doesnt require any ink. VERY INCONVENIENT, poor programming. Still, for the initial cost of this printer its a good deal, especially if you dont print all the time and are conservative with ink.

I got this printer Pixma MP480 two weeks back and it rocks. It prints awesome photoes. The print quality of color and B & W documents is awesome. I scanned my tax documents I got from Financial Institutions and converted them into pdf documents and the pdf documents came gr8888. I dont know why many people didnt know about this printer. I paid $69.99 @ Amazon.com. I printed the photoes on both glossy paper and Canon Matty paper and its amazing. I wouldnt print the pictures I hang in the frames using this printer. But, the print quality is scrap book quality. The Easy-PhotoPrinter EX is awesome. It is a wizard like software which walks through the screens. Im totally satisfied... The catridges also cost very less compared to other catridges.

This printer was very reasonably priced. It is more than I had hoped for. I am able to print out 4 x 6 inch pictures, which is the main reason I bought it. I have a laser printer for most of my other needs. But this also makes copies, like a miniature xerox copier, which is extremely handy. It also acts as a regular printer. It was a great investment for me. The quality of the pictures I print out is high quality. The cartridges are pretty expensive, but even though I use this printer often, the cartridges last close to a year, so in the long run, I guess the cost of the cartridges isnt so bad.
